I was in Bellingham then, and liked the March event more. We had way more snow with that than the big blast. That was just dry, cold, and windy.

 

Yeah, looks like Bellingham area saw 3-6" with that storm.

 

It brought basically anywhere from 3-9" from BLI to PDX, which you don't see too often.

Really no sign of the cold pattern ending on Candian at day 10.  Lots of blocking to our NW.  The theme of bridging the -PNA and -NAO is strong on all of the models now.  That could be a stable pattern capable of keeping us cold for quite some time.

An interesting aspect to me about the emerging pattern is we currently have the epic cold in the Midwest while the intense cold will be building over NW Canada very shortly.  Amazing to have that kind of cold on both sides of the continent at once.  Could this be the beginning of the solar min effects kicking in?
