VancouverIslandSouth
Both of those events were georgia straight enhancement events. The overrunning event in 2017 was quite inferior. There were 3 events here in 2017, that picture is just after the first one on Feb 6th. There was an overrunning event a few days later that dropped about 6" and a smaller convergence like event toward the end of the month that dropped another couple inches. The first Feb 2017 event wasn't a Georgia Strait enhancement, it was the case of cold onshore flow running over colder Fraser Valley outflow. The event last February was a convergence type event. We haven't had a good Georgia Strait enhancement since Jan 2012. That said, we can do just fine with the stuff coming down the Juan de Fuca so long as we have outflow; one of the single best events in the past 20 years (Nov 2006) was a Juan de Fuca strait-effect snow.
