To my surprise, I woke up this morning to a coating of snow!  I wasn't expecting to see anything TBH but it's nice to see the ground covered with a bit of snow, as minimal as it is (0.3").  Unfortunately, the powdery snow, cold pavement and no residual road salt the roadways are a mess this morning, but moreso across the farther southern counties.

Looks like there were a couple pockets of heavier snowfall in KS (7-11") just west of KC and SE of KC in MO (6-9").

Tom, I had 4.8 inches on the NE side of KC. Got into a heavy band around 2:00 pm that dropped 2 inches in 1.5 hours.

 

My fleet manager lives in Odessa, MO, he measured 8 inches.

 

There were intense snow bands with yesterday’s system.

Question now, how far NW will the system get today. Will KC see more snow.

Nice score!  Some of those bands were intense...solid frontogenesis and dynamics with this system...

Remind me, what was the main cause again? Did we miss the anticipated phase? Personally, I didn't like the odds due to the bombing beast to the NE creating too much suppression behind it.

Yup, we missed the phase and this ended up becoming a sheared out storm with multiple waves.  The second wave hitting today is the stronger one of course producing the severe wx and the intense thump snows across MO/IL/IN.

An area of heavier snow has set up literally a few miles east of me while I have been having occasional flurries today.

 

I wonder if this had all phased into a monster if it would have been pulled north of me as is often the case.  Maybe I would have had (severe?) t-storms and the dry slot instead of nearly 5" of snow.  That's what makes weather fascinating!

Going well, family has been outside enjoying the snow.  We picked up another 2.25 inches witch brings oiur storm total to 5.35.

There were 37 Tornado reports down in the deep south across LA/MS as quite a late season Severe Wx Outbreak took place.  Here was a shot of a Tornado in Foxworth, MS...
