Phil
12Z GFS actually shows some warmer weather starting in just over a week... that is an improvement over some of its previous runs. That’s an outlier solution, though. Most guidance (model + analog) favors the 4CH/GOA low pattern (which can trend warm). That type of warm up would be favored during the 3rd week of the month, IMO. Frontal Snowsquall
Only fireworks this year will be the ones that people shoot from their neighborhoods. They are illegal in most of California, but it doesn't stop the stupid people from making a few loud booms and making my dog go nuts. When I went to buy my fireworks the other day they were sold out of the ones I wanted so I had to go to another stand. Turns out firework sales are through the roof right now and the best they have ever been in history due to the Coronavirus. All the public firework shows are cancelled so people are buying extra fireworks this year. I'm expecting tomorrow night to be wild and the loudest it's ever been in my neighborhood for an Independence Day.

But it seems to get watered down as it approaches. Although I realize we can’t get that lucky forever. Definitely seems like the gfs has a pretty significant warm bias past 7 days. IIRC it was a similar story last year. Several times it showed significant heat but it just kept getting watered down and we ended up not having much major heat besides in mid June of last summer. We only had 2 days 85+ here at this location last summer.
