What fire was it that scorched the north side of McIver Park was that from Labor Day 2020? I don't see that area as in the burn zone of the Riverside Fire, but it was a fairly substantial fire that burned on both sides of the river.

The fire prediction seems too conservative in retrospect.

Comparing to other regions is tricky because you would have to run a regional climate model with the same initialization in two different regions or use a larger domain. 10-15 years ago the use of regional climate models was quite innovative and expensive computationally.

February is just one month, I have no idea why February has been running cold lately. It could be just random chance.

It's not rocket science, but you are beating your head against the wall here...

But on the positive side with the fires. We can say we are watching the death of our ecosystem and we are, in real time, at McIver and Barton parks yesterday I not only surveyed fire damage at McIver from two separate wildfire events, but was also able to see how many dead and dying conifers there were. We will see more pine and oak, madrone, etc... As the climate zones shift north. So in a sense we are experiencing the labor pains of a new beginning.

I remember it, but that one slips my mind. it wasn't the Doty Road fire? nah....

I need @Phil to explain why it's so freakin hot out here in North Bend on the very top of the mountains so high in the sky??

Interesting fact... our house here is at almost the exact same elevation as the house in Minnesota where I grew up.  Minnesota is not mountainous.

Kind of a bummer we didn’t get any snow going into this.

Roads are still covered up here. North wins again!

Today is the 54th day this year at 80+ in North Bend.   And the 9th day at 90+ degrees.

As @Phil pointed out last week... its actually been colder than normal in my area this summer.   So our normal summer high temps out here must be well into the 80s at this point because a majority of the days since mid-May have been been in the 80s and that is apparently still colder than normal.

Definitely some smoke over the Cascades. Got a few pictures of Mount Rainier surrounded by a layer of smoke on the plane a little while ago.

He did... posted a map showing its been colder than normal east of Seattle this summer and sarcastically told me to write them a letter if I think its actually been a warm summer here because it has not been.

High today up here on the very top of a very high mountain in North Bend was 98.    High temp in Brunswick GA was 96.    My flip flops should melt faster than his.   😀

At least two new fires emerged in the North Cascades today (one near Buckindy Peak and one near Washington Pass along Highway 20) in addition to the 3 already burning there. They've probably been smoldering since the last round of lightning and all kicked it into high gear in the last couple days because of the wind.
