Today feels exactly like the evening of 9/7/19. That was a solid marine layer day like today…couldn’t see what was brewing above the layer. Then around 6pm the cloud bases started turning super dark and we just started getting big CG bolts all in rapid succession.

Does look similar looking at my Time Machine pictures. Looked marine during the day and I was capturing lightning that evening.

First overachieving marine layer day since I don’t know when, maybe Spring of 2022? I knew the “partly sunny” afternoon forecast was in trouble when it was still lightly drizzling late morning. Ironically the OR coast looks like the sunniest place west of the mountains now.

That was the first Husky game for my UW son.   Stadium was rocking and it was packed and they were winning and then the lightning hit and they were forced to leave.  The Huskies ended up losing that game after they re-started it really late with a mostly empty stadium.  And their season went downhill from there and then COVID hit and ruined the next season.    🙄

I was working outside at Emerald Downs and was soaked...... a great light show tho. Hopefully we get something similar tonight.

There were rolling thundershowers most of this afternoon in Victoria, much more activity than I was expecting. Still not a ton of rain, typically just 5 minute heavy showers that seemed to stop as soon as they started. Anyone have a good 24 hour lightning tracker for our region? All the ones I previously used seem to be out of service.

I’m sure there will be some warm days at times in September but it feels like summer is coming to an end.

That's because summer is over.   Fall starts Friday.    We have the same conversation every year in early March about winter being over but there are still plenty of winterish days in March and April.    I think Matt would call this a titillating discussion.

Yeah probably best I don’t discuss seasonal changes on a weather forum 😬

Semantics. Technically, but it is common for summer to extend well into September…
