90ish doesn’t even sound that hot anymore. Ended up leaving to come home a day early today because it was super hot down here. Got out to get gas in sandy and it felt like an absolute blast furnace.

Sitting in the shade in the breeze it’s quite comfortable.

Maybe it was SLE that hit 117 that i was thinking of…but yeah it’s definitely alarming seeing the state of the ecosystem in the PNW after the last 10 years.

Yeah I do know SLE hit 117 in 2021. It’s true, what we’ve seen so far post-2013 is pretty bad. The harder pill to swallow is realizing/making peace with the fact that it’s only going to get worse.

The 108 was definitely official at PDX. I think they “only” hit 116 in 2021.

Impressive, but to me tracking this stuff is about as fun as gleefully tracking a loved one’s cancer progression.

Third historic heatwave in three years. Really hoping we can avoid more torching next summer but I highly doubt that.

🤮🤮🤮 Hoping I don’t have to deal with a view like that IMBY this year.

Even I drank the kool-aid back in the late spring, thinking this summer might at least be more 2019-esque. Especially with the record hot May. Only thing that could really improve upon this warm season now is a relatively early end, but I won’t hold my breath.

They really should get rid of the runway at OLM because it's clearly influencing the data...

At least you admitted the 6/20-8/31 period was cherry-picked. I mean...why not just do 6/1-8/31 or 6/1-9/30, since September is basically as much a summer months as June?

The trend is clear as day anyway, yet you still felt the need to exacerbate it with cherry-picking. 😆

I picked June 20 to August 31 because it most dramatically represents the trend, as well as the summer season here.

If you don't like it then feel free to post your own data, or try politely asking the summer to be cooler.

I'm just not a fan of cherry-picking. But like I said, at least you admitted it.

PDX's average long term high on 9/10 is 3 degrees warmer than 6/20...I don't think that period best reflects the summer season either.

At least the smoke kept your high temp below 105.

When extended to 9/10... no meaningful differences and that 5 year moving average remains a half degree higher than the longstanding 1967 record. This is jarring stuff here, Flat Albert.

Phil called it first.

Just a quick little heat wave.  Ridges are always short-lived and then back to our usual cold summer weather.
