About 10% of those lows would be a massive snow event for almost all of western wa

I count about 20% of the EPS members showing a significant snowstorm for western WA.     Pretty impressive.

I’m hoping you don’t lose power! Is that the most ice you’ve ever gotten?

I had 2" of ice in between a foot of snow on either side of that when I lived in Yamhill County back in Dec 2008. I don't think I will experience a more memorable winter event than that one.

I think Portland dodged a bullet.  They looked like they were going to get crushed.

They still got crushed, just by wind and sleet instead of snow. Big trees down everywhere

Was looking at the OBS for Bozeman, and their DP was -76 this morning.....mind blowing.

Had a low of 5.4 this morning, and briefly got up to 20.  Currently 14.  Winds have definitely relaxed in my neighborhood, still sustained around 10-15 at KBLI, and gusts have died down.

Major ice storm is unlikely because the surface will moderate between now and Tuesday night.   That is just a fact.   Its not going to stay this cold.

A major snowstorm absolutely can happen!   And we don't even need to preserve this cold air.   It will bring its own.  😀

18z NAM was also south
