Got dark enough here for neighbors’ lights to come on briefly. The dim sunlight was kinda spooky. Temp dropped by ~5°F

Much lighter now.

Pretty similar to here in 2017. The shadows were mesmerizing.

So, who among our intrepid forum members is going to post the first eclipse video?!?

This is all I got 😐

Us 99% bottom dwellers had to live vicariously through Al Roker and Lester Holt.😢

Grateful to have been in Monmouth during the 2017 eclipse. Was pretty much the best viewing conditions on the planet for that one.

That's my son's bday but even if he has kids they probably won't live that long.

Also I checked. That eclipse is a hybrid eclipse. In the Western Pacific there are parts that are total but in North America it is just an annular eclipse and Bellingham is the center. Seattle isn't in the annulairity (?). There are at least three annular eclipses in Oregon, including at least one very close to Portland.  2045 in Norcal or 2044 in Alberta will be our best bets.

Garfield County/Pomeroy, WA:

2023-2024 Snowfall totals: 14.3 inches

HIghest snow total (per event): 5.8 inches total 1/11/24 - 1/12/24.

Most recent accumulation (non trace): 0.20 inches on 2/26/24

Days with  trace or more snowfall: 12/01/23 (0.60), 1/8/24 (1.0), 1/10/24 (3.5), 1/11/23 (3.5 inches with Thundersnow; separate event from prior day), 1/12/24 (2.30). 1/14/24 (T), 1/17/24 (1.20 inches), 1/18/24 (1.5 inches), 1/19/24 (0.20), 2/09/24 (0.30), 2/26/24 (0.20-mainly graupel), 4/5/24 (T)

First Freeze: 10/27/2023

Last Sub freezing Day: 1/20/24 (12th) (8 days in a row from 1/12/24-1/20/24)

Coldest low: -12F (!!!!!!!!) (1/12/24)

Not sure... I just skimmed past an article that talked about Seattle being in the path on July 18, 1860 and again in 2169.   I had the date wrong though... its 6/24/2169.

The 1860 eclipse started just 20 minutes after dawn.   They have some first hand accounts in this article.

That was a great read. It looks like Seattle will just barely miss out. Totality starts about Lakewood and the center of it is near Longview.  Portland will be in Totality for that one. Of course things could change due to drift or other factors maybe? https://eclipsewise.com/solar/SEcirc/2101-2200/SE2169Jun25Tcirc.html

Currently raining and windy. 47 degrees.
.19” so far on the day. High of 49.
Would sure be nice to actually hit at least the mid 50’s again, been a while now.

Apparently it's been all death ridging and ecosystem destroying heat so far this spring.

It was dark and cloudy in Portland for that one.   Not sure about over there though.
