Must be very localized.  All around the Olympics there is no sign of dryness.  HQM, UIL, Sequim, BLI.

You got data on PA, KCLM? These are YTD gauge numbers. 7.73 is the airport totals, surprisingly a half inch less than me.

What a beautiful morning out. Moderate rain with a temp of 47, after a low of 46. The green is so intense out there it’s hard to put into words.

Up to .15 on the day already with showers backfilling from the east again. 1.6” since Friday afternoon, with over an inch falling yesterday alone. Ended up with a 52/47 spread yesterday.

Looks like SLE set a daily rain record yesterday with .99", as did downtown Portland with .96".

Looking like 48 hour storm totals will be right up there with some of the May biggies for the Willamette Valley. The 1.31" EUG saw om Friday was their biggest one day total in May since 1972.

I don't get too excited about retirement. It's essentially the final act.

My wife says I think about death too much, I've always thought everyone else thinks about it every day as well.

Still figuring out exactly what that might be, though....

I went through a pretty big existential/death obsessed period in my 20s. I think excessive cannabis use might have been playing a role. But I learned a lot from it.

I really think you and I would get along in real life. You're about as conservative as my wife is, I think we're similar in age and outlook.

Anyway, my wife and I always ask each other questions that would seem morbid by others. We ask what we would do with life insurance payouts, what they would do for parenting, talking about updating our wills, and what the other would do if they died. My friends in CA always thought I was super morbid (but not in a creepy way).

Not raining now but doubled my total at a modest 0.19 on the day. I'll take what I can get here.

The 12z EPS mostly favors a cluster of members which brings some sort of Pacific cold front into the westside. Judging by the pattern progression advertised thus far, this glorified gust of wind will end up as more of a glancing blow from a clipper front poised well offshore moving ENE, rather than a full intrusion of the NE Pac trough sliding in directly from the NW, as we've seen play out several times since the beginning of March.

Still though, it's the low levels that count, and a marine layer intrusion with spotty drizzle by Sunday night currently looks (much) more likely than a fully continuous onslaught of July like weather lasting through the end of the workweek. The operational Euro today is simply a reflection of one of the rare paths our weather could take to avoid that marine push.

Oh my God such a classic!! My dad and I would watch it every so often. And that odometer roll back scene was kind of real life for me! I traded in my 1999 Tahoe back in 2010 to a local GMC dealership. It had nearly 180,000 miles on it, I see it at a little crappy used car dealer in Marysville a few weeks later (I’m sure it was auctioned) on their lot and it had the big numbers on the windshield that said SALE $15,000 dollars! I laughed at that as it was not worth anywhere close to that! It was definitely my Tahoe as it had unique exterior aftermarket accessories (and missing passenger side vent visor) and exhaust system. Anyway I stop and look at it, the dealer was closed at the time and something told me to peer inside at the dash…My 170k+ mile Tahoe suddenly had 107k on it! (Those still had the analog roller type odometer)

Long story short is that I sent an email to DOL and suddenly a few weeks later that shady dealer was no more lol.

It’s wayyyyy more common than a lot of people think. And most people won’t pick up on the wear and tear items like the pedals and such that are inconsistent with the mileage. We did a few theft by deception cases back in the day (when our climate was noticeably cooler) and you end up exposed to what was a massive subculture, particularly when it comes to the Gypsies. The early digital odometers were actually the easiest to tamper with apparently.

Also… IT SNOWED A WEEK BEFORE THAT PHOTO WAS TAKEN!

Back in the late 70s while I was in high school and I couple of years after that I worked for a dealer's only auto auction and then for an independent wholesaler.  You are right, it is a seedy subculture.  The Gypsies were the something else.  On the upside though, for being a young car nut what a great job.  I was able to drive just about anything you could imagine from classic bugs, muscle cars, even a couple of Rolls.

Glad to hear you are scoring some rainfall up there. The northern half of Washington needs it badly, heading into fire season.

I got you to respond to Randy just to say the opposite of me!

Don't think we need it badly up here.   It's plenty wet and Randy's area barely gets out of the 70s anyways.   BLI is wetter than normal for the year.   And from Seattle northward it's much easier to get rain all summer with c-zones.

But the dire warnings are noted.   Must always be dire warnings.   Even when it's pouring rain and in the 40s in May.

Today has been really lovely with the combination of low, brooding overcast, a cool wind and intermittent drizzle/light rain. All contrasting well with the vibrant landscape.

Last 2 days for us. Greens are popping, nice to get properly hydrated but otherwise I agree - way too cold and zero break in the gloom; about as much fun as 65 around Christmas. Proper vitamin D stretch is on the way tho! ☀️
