I really like this run. If that cut-off sandwiched between the eastward moving high pressure cell were to shunt that energy southward, look out. Major cold would come south quickly.

Northern AK is a complete reversal from the 18z. Plenty of cold air over this side of the pole. Progress!

Here is a question for some of you old time climate experts. How many arctic blasts did the PNW have in January 1937? Just looking at the monthly data for SLE it looks like there were at least 3-4, maybe as many as 5?!

I was just looking at the last 4 GFS runs for the strat warming event and the 18z was much more massive for both area and intensity of the warming.  The difference was huge.  We'll have to see how it plays out.

Didn't really like this run. It's a disorganized pattern that isn't really close to anything good.

GEM isn't bad at day 10. Much cleaner than the pattern the GFS shows.
