FWIW, the further offshore solutions do make more sense given where the trough axis is. The idea of this 500mb pattern spitting out a deep low that rides up the spine of the Cascades has never made a ton of sense as the overall synoptic setup obviously focuses the energy west and the models have had to kind of play catch up. Just food for thought.
