December 2015 in the Pacific Northwest

Timing is better though and a slightly cooler airmass. 12z GFS shows a healthy amount of precip. Still will be pretty tough to reach the 32 degree miracle mile.

Timing could help a little. That one has a higher bust potential moisture side though.

My preferences can beat up your preferences’ dad.

Yeah, and sadly dry air advection between now and Tuesday evening looks pretty limited so it'll be a setup that's pretty reliant on some decent (>0.05") per hour precip rates to cool us down a bit. We'll see, looks more promising on recent runs though.

Temp 36, dp 24 here. Radar showed precip coming over me about an hour ago but nothing falling yet. If you squint your eyes, tilt your head, stick your tongue out and shake your leg you can see some very fine light flurries.

Could also be my snow-deprived mind playing tricks on me. Who knows.

Low dewpoint there.

Holy crap guys! I went to go let the dogs out and it's RAINING! And chunky rain at that! I bet the roads will be chaos soon. Haha however I was surprised to see that it was raining considering webcams were relatively dry.

My place tends to do relatively well with marginal situations but that hasn't been the case so far this winter. Places at lower elevations saw better stuff than we did earlier in the week. Interesting for sure.

Like Tim said, low DP. Where in Carnation are you? Are you east of town or west? (if you don't mind me asking). I know the hills east of carnation get really high up but i'm not sure if Tolt hill gets that high too.

Funny how the wettest month on record may end up bookended by two majestic rex blocks.

It was just perfect timing for December to be the wettest month. Slide this forward or back a week and it's just a wet period preceeded and followed by blocking periods.

Not true here. It takes a lot for PDX to get 15" of rain in a few weeks or see 25 consecutive days with measurable rain. Not a run-of-the-mill pattern.

Downright pornographic.

Some people find this weather obscene. They are weather prudes.

7:00 AM Friday. East wind much? Talk about an extremely tight/strong PDX-DLS gradient! East wind event/storm east of I-205/Gorge likely. 12km Time-Height has 50kt wind barbs. The first WRF run to show this. Could be 55kts on the 4km.

Snow coming down hard, slush now on deck and truck. 34.1 degrees, dp 24.

Not fair... 34 here with a dewpoint of 29.   How can it be so much lower there?

I don't know, baffled myself unless my weather station is not accurate. Started early this morning with a dp of 30 but has been declining ever since. I figured it would have climbed when the precip started to meet the lowering temp but that isn't happening. Just got a report from the lake house which is a little higher than my house and it's sticking there. Heading over there in a few to watch the game.

Edit: I just looked out again, grass turning white and heavy snow. Temp down to 33.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Seems like the dew points can vary widely with home stations.  There is another Davis station that's a few blocks from my house, and it often reads much lower humidity.

Was up at the grocery store a couple miles down the road that is at about 575ft versus my 550ft. All snow there, meanwhile here its just a mix with mainly rain. A station near the store is reporting 38.6 with a dp of 31, meanwhile here its 38.1 with a dp of 34. I have no idea why our dp's have been continuously higher than the whole area around us.

This was a few minutes ago, coming down harder now and sticking to the driveway.

Nice!
