It's trying for you guys down that way. 3" here since midnight. 7.2" since 2pm yesterday.

It's absolutely dumping out now, 28F with moderate snow. If this keeps up even an half an hour we'll easily double our snow total. Definitely getting some of that convective stuff now and the super high accumulation ratio will help.

SEA officially got 2" yesterday, probably at least another couple inches so far this AM. Pretty snowy scene from the Space Needle: http://50yrcamera.spaceneedle.net/

Do you still hate it there?

That is a really cool camera.

I feel a little bit better, but sometimes it's just torture to finally score here.

Sitting at 28° with flurries. Nice stream of moisture coming into King County and the Kitsap from the southwest.

Actually, I see that SEA had a 4" depth at 4 am, and they've gotten another .24" of snow since then, so probably at least 6" on the ground.

They also dropped to at least 30, so the GFS MOS was too warm a couple days ago.

Yeah, I was gonna say, despite the intense mocking from Dewey and Tim the flash freeze thing kind of panned out up there.

We have seen an unbelievable amount of 34-36 degree rain here the last 24 hours. The only way you could even tell it was ever close to snow was with a windshield splat test. Never even got to the point where snow was visible in the air.

I am happy to take one for the team and see northerners score, though. :)

Pretty impressive that PDX saw its wettest February day on record yesterday.

Incredible, Newport too! Downtown it was 4th wettest going back to 1872.

And I'm picking up snow this morning ;)

My 2-4" call seems doable.

From the looks of it there's already about 3" of very powdery snow on the ground, 2 of which fell in the past 30 minutes. Still snowing moderately and the temperature and the temperature has dropped to around 27F. If this keeps up much longer your call may have been too low.

Nam, Gfs, and gem are liking the idea of 10-15" more here between now and Thursday. Euro is lighter and quicker with the midweek transition.

That would be pretty insane. You'd have what, 24"-30" on the ground?

Maybe that will get you closer to your seasonal average.

I would not call this a flash freeze... that is usually reserved for a deep plunge into arctic air and not slipping down to 30 and now up to 33 at 9 a.m.

The wind is picking up here now... lots of snow falling off the trees which is cool to watch.   They pop up in cloud of blowing snow.   :)

I didn't call it anything. Just pointed out the GFS MOS was too warm.

GFS MOS showed 32.   ECMWF showed 30 for last night.   In the ballpark.

Ha, pretty sure most lower BC locations have easily surpassed their winter average. With the combination of prolonged cold and snow, been a great winter up there (even with Victoria proper getting relatively "screwed").

I haven't checked the numbers lately, but based on comments I think this is one of Victoria's warmest winters on record to date.
