Rod Hill has done 3 of the 4 right? KPTV, KATU, and KGW? Very distant, but I guess he has relatives with the same last name as I have. It is a very uncommon name in the US. So pretty much anyone who has it is related somehow. He messaged me on facebook about it... I have a hyphenated last name and generally go by "Johnson" which is part of it. TT-SEA
Much colder at the 850mb level as well. Just an all-around better run in every facet for Sunday vs. the 18z. TT-SEA
It's faster and colder. Look at hour 144 and compare to 18z... No speed factored in there, it's just plain colder. I usually compare the 00Z to the 12Z and the 12Z to the previous night's 00Z run. Its about the same as the 12Z run. TT-SEA
While in general the snow maps overdo it that's more in relation to marginal events. 850s are solid, surface temps after 10AM (at the latest) are solid, thicknesses are solid... Not really any marginal aspect here. If the 00z GFS temperature numbers were to verify as modeled, I could imagine the snow map reflecting an accurate snowfall for Sunday in this instance. There definitely will be lowland snow on Sunday... but that map is usually a joke so its become sort of meaningless to us.
