June Weather in the Pacific Northwest

And the 12Z GFS just took away our nice 4th. I knew that second ULL was going to be a problem.

Let's wait till we see the Euro before jumping to any conclusions.  How do you think the Gorge looks for the fourth?  (Hood RIver/ The Dalles?)

Actually shows lots of rain again for the afternoon and evening of the 4th.

That will be nice after a week of clouds and drizzle!

The way 2018 has been so far, I wouldn’t be surprised if that is the ultimate outcome. Been a crapfest so far with the exception of a few dry nice weeks a while back.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Sounds like you are enjoying your new location!

My daughter just got up and looked out the window as the rain started, threw her hands up and said “not again” and shook her head. She usually doesn’t care about what the weather is but even she is getting tired of the dreariness!

I said the same thing this morning when a ray of sunshine came through the window and woke me up early again.

Been the same at our old place...wouldn’t have made a difference.

At hour 126 on the GFS, the only states in the lower 48 to completely escape being under the 594dm Death Dome are Washington and Oregon (Idaho, Nevada and Florida are on the edge).

Too bad it’s never like that in the winter.

It's just entertaining watching Tim's rollercoaster rides leading up to holidays.

This is the worst one yet. And it's been so crappy lately on top of it.

Glad we did not cancel our reservations.

The 4th will be warm and sunny region wide. Maybe even hot down this way.

52 and rain will be the outcome!

That would be a ridiculously hot pattern for the winter.

Wouldn’t need to vacation in Mexico or Hawaii!

Anyone hear about this?

(CNN) — The city of Quriyat in Oman now has a dubious distinction to its name: It has recorded the highest "low" temperature in known history. The Middle Eastern town of about 50,000 residents clocked in at a low temperature of 42.6°C (108.7°F) on June 26, 2018.2 days ago

I couldn't imagine trying to sleep in that, I don't think it'd be possible without air conditioning.  I tried sleeping a couple hours at a rest area outside Phoenix on I-10 once in August it got down to 95, it was nearly unbearable...

Imagine a trough that big.

Didn't the one in early Dec, 2013 end up absolutely massive and stretch across most of the CONUS?  I remember being in Texas then and they had a significant ice storm with heavy snow to the north in Tulsa which was part of the same trough as the one that brought -10F to Eugene as well as the coastal communities!! They even started to name those events around that time, I think this one was Winter Storm Cleon.

Nice to see the 12z GFs bump up rainfall totals a bit.

Bummer for the central and north valley (we do need the rain badly though).  Good thing I've got my party in Monmouth on the 3rd and I will be in Springfield on the 4th.

Hopefully the really warm stuff will stay in the long range all summer. But hard to imagine us getting that lucky.

Like the really cold stuff most of last winter? Gets within 8-9 days then disappears.

Yeah, I would love if that tendency switched from winter cold to summer heat, and we could actually get the cold to verify in the winter. Like the old days. :)

Pretty amazing how much the Euro moves that blob of heat over the intermountain west toward us, compared to previous runs.

Heat ridges over the Central US don’t retrograde and become western ridges. They rely on different mechanisms for sustenance. Models don’t seem to understand that, however.
