Personally, that's why I'm not a big fan of January snows myself. Now just feels kind of dirty and wrong after our decades-long quest into making it a spring month.

Can't remember exactly but there was snow on the ground over a week.     We often have some snow in April.    We had 6 inches of snow on Easter night in 2018 which was on April 1st.

Oh yeah I saw this torch coming a mile away. Should be one of the warmest Februaries on record here. Am still predicting we’ll hit mid/upper 70s at some point, and quite possibly challenge our all time record high for the month.

Academia is a cesspool, and is deteriorating exponentially. I’ve done almost no work since summer.  I love my institution but it’s not a culture I resonate with.

Seriously considering aborting and going into the private sector this fall. When you loathe 60% of the people around you it’s probably time for a change.

A wet, cloudy morning with low clouds around. Low of 41, currently 43. Picked up .15” today so far with some moderate showers at times. Big turn around from the sunny, dry weather and mild temps yesterday.

GFS ensemble down to -8C at SLE for the VD trough. Pretty impressive. 

Overall the operational was pretty consistent with the mean, or even slightly above at times. A few big dogg's showing up in the long range too.

I generally did not enjoy formalized education and if I had my life to live over I would go into the skilled trades (specifically, electrician) after high school. At least I went to college long enough ago that I didn’t get saddled with a huge debt.

12Z ECMWF shows multiple c-zones on Monday night from the Seattle area northward.    Going to be a very active and interesting night.

Seems like the models usually do a pretty consistent job with sizing up these westerly, progressive troughs. Not nearly as high of potential with it of course but a higher floor as well, and thus much less volatility.
