The ECMWF shows everywhere dropping into the teens Saturday night after the big snow on Friday. Wow!

If there is snow cover, I would not be surprised to see upper single digits in the favorite cold locations.

First time I've ever seen 2-5 inches in my zone forecast and not even a snow advisory. Acually 5 inches reaches warning level. Strange. My call of 1-4 inches everywhere yesterday looks good.

The lack of any advisories is strange to me. They must be coming when the 12z models are in.

I've gone from 44f at 3:30am to 40f at 5:30 with light rain at 315ft between Oregon City and Estacada.  Not what I was expecting.  Was thinking temps would hold in the mid 40's most of the day.  Temps in Sandy Or at 900ft are down to 38ft.  Definitely cooler than I thought it would be this am.

EC just issued a snowfall warning for East side of vancouver island. Lightly snowing here right now and looks like some activity on the radar out in the strait.

Issued at 2019-02-03 13:18 UTC by Environment Canada:

Snowfall warning issued for:

East Vancouver Island - Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay, B.C. (081320)

Current details:

Snow squalls bringing local accumulations of 5 to 15 cm.

Arctic outflow winds crossing the Strait of Georgia will create snow squalls reaching the Eastern side of Vancouver Island today and tonight. The snow squalls will tend to be localized but could nevertheless produce significant snowfall accumulations for sections of East Vancouver Island from Nanaimo to Qualicum Beach. The snowfall accumulations will be variable with amounts ranging between 5 to 15 cm.

The snow squalls will dissipate by Monday morning.

Looks like a convergence zone of some sort.  Hopefully we can keep this momentum going

It's down to about 33F here now, but looks like the snow has tapered off. Just need one or two heavy showers to develop for things to get interesting. Perhaps the low level outflow will push up something, looks like the edge is near Bellingham.

I'm a little worried.  The NAM is showing our source of moisture running out in 4 or 5 hours.  It's saying nothing for tonight.

5:27 AM PST Sunday 03 February 2019
Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • Fraser Valley - central including Chilliwack
  • Fraser Valley - west including Abbotsford

Snowfall with total amounts of 5 to 10 cm is expected.

Snowfall totals of 5-10 cm are expected in portions of the Fraser Valley.

A band of moisture over the eastern Pacific will interact with an arctic front now over the south coast to produce an area of snowfall centred over the Fraser Valley beginning this morning. 5 to 10 cm of snow can be expected through this afternoon mainly between Abbotsford and Chilliwack before dry arctic outflow winds move in tonight.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Gauging model performance... the WRF showed the band of snow for all of King County happening right about now.    I don't think that is going to verify as its still too warm.

I didn't believe it when I saw it on the WRF last night, but just woke up to about 1/2" of snow. Looks like the cold air aloft overswept the fading deformation band that the low over California spun up.

Nice.

Looks like the ECMWF showed some snow down there too this morning.
