You finally got your snow day!

Add one more really nice snow event for EUG. What a great decade they have had.

All I could do was laugh and shake my head when I saw it was 37 at PDX as of 7am. Sometimes you have to wonder about this climate.

It's literally 44 degrees colder here right now. Pretty surprising that the outflow isn't colder considering how deep the cold air is here.

Cold Season 2023/24:

Total snowfall: 26"

Highest daily snowfall: 5"

Deepest snow depth: 12"

Coldest daily high: -20ºF

Coldest daily low: -42ºF

Number of subzero days: 5

I see EUG has had well over an inch of precip in the past 9 hours. All as snow! I really hope we get an official measurement from EUG for this storm.

Really just doesn't take much to close schools.

10-12" of snow here overnight in Bozeman with -20F windchills this morning. Everything open with no school closures and operating on normal schedules. No closures since the 70's here!

I actually feel pretty bad for the kids at the bus stops this morning.

not many of us can get off on cold anomalies

Wasn’t my point. You said objectively it’s been a bad pattern but it seemed like a misuse of the word. Subjectively it’s been bad for some areas but objectively for the region as a whole it’s been pretty crazy.

Sounds like nothing stops the Bozeman schools! Probably a similar story for schools in Alaska.

Actual dusting here. Overachiever.

Yeah, there is a solid dusting in Salmon Creek too, still coming down lightly.

Back in east Vancouver we were getting blasted by a cold and dry east wind, not even a flake all morning despite echoes over us. Euro kind of goofed up since it looks like areas away from the outflow in the metro area will actually do a little better.

Wow. My in laws live there. Should check in with them. We are going down there next month to visit. Really nice area.

We visit there often.  Love the high desert, juniper forests.  Always smells so good with that mix of sage and juniper.  Every few years they get a big dump of snow.  Usually not this late in the season.  They got smacked good this time, Madras to Bend.  Waiting to hear from our friends in La Pine.  Curious how they did.

Washington County is doing alright relatively today. Good for them. Looks like about 1-2" per cams around the Salem Airport. They'll end the month with 4-5" total.

Yeah, westside of the county will pretty much always do better when there are strong offshore pressure gradients.

If you don't mind, two questions.  Any idea how much snow you've had this season and what's your total on the ground now?  Last year if I'm not mistaken you had like your second highest snow totals with something around 120".  I love the Boseman to Livingston area, so I live vicariously thru you.  LOL

I said a “terrible waste of a ‘historic’ pattern.” Meaning, the pattern has been historic in nature and longevity but hasn’t delivered in the form of significant snow here for the most part.

This is turning into a semantics battle, but you also said when looking at it *objectively*, which I just thought was funny wording considering it was such an IMBYarder type post. :P

It made the same mistake here over the weekend... not recognizing the drying effect of the east wind. But it did very well recognizing the cooling effect of the east wind during the 2/11 event when it showed it would not turn over to rain here and we would be buried in snow.

We likely close on the sale of our house March 4th, this could be it for the season for me. Moving back down into the lowlands in scappoose. Probably won’t get as much snow there.

Why are you moving?

I'm up to 108" on the season with 28" on the ground as of this morning's measurement. It's still really coming down out there and looks to continue throughout the week so I wouldn't be surprised if we get near 40" on the ground shortly.

I actually picked up 222" (18.5 feet!!) of snowfall last season which was near record breaking for the Bozeman area. MSU picked up about 150" last season.
