February 2019 Weather Observations and Discussion Part 2

I'm going to be very interested to see what the warm season looks like this year.  The atmosphere is in a far different state this year than what has been seen recently.  I hope the type of blocking we have seen this winter is going to show up frequently as long as the solar activity is low.  I would love to see a 1949 or 1951 type spring with lots of cold frosty nights.

 

Something old school would be pretty nice. I like a mix of cold and wet and cool and dry in the spring, with warm days scattered in for contrast and convection.

Feels like a waste. Wish it was December

 

I don't know why people are so hung up on December.  The front loaded winters that dominated for so long brought us crap for the money part of the winter on a consistent basis.  This is a long overdue shakeup.  The 19th century only had a few great December's but a butt load of great Januaries and Februaries.

If it was December you would still be saying cold and dry was a waste and you wished it was snowing. And if it was snowing you would be saying you wished it was snowing more.

 

Most people simply don't appreciate it just being cold for being cold.  It's all part of the cold package that I like.

 

It's amazing after all of the cold and snow this month people still wish it was December.

Cool and dry is the ultimate.  That's what our summers used to be.  Drier and much cooler due to a more dominating Pacific high as opposed to 4 Corners high.  Something we may see this year.

 

Those old school summers were great. Highs mostly in the 70s, lows in the 40s and low 50s. Sunny for the most part but every now and then we would get a legit cool and rainy day thrown in there to keep things green.

Exactly. It’s absolutely inexplicable as to why anyone would prefer a cold and snowy 12-25 over 2-25. Our potential is much higher for the latter and 12-25 is just another day...

You know, a nice windstorm would be great compensation for these sadistic rug-pulls (though I think I’ll still get an inch or two tonight). Maybe something like 3/26/71.

I like clippers.  Not a lot of moisture, but lots of chill.  Obviously we need some wetter systems also.

A lot of them were centered up north (especially the big 12/20 event). But 1/5/19 was a bona-fide storm. Loved that!

An inch now on the elevated surfaces. Very slushy half inch on the roads to this point. Snow still coming down.

However, some good news... Looks like moderate accumulating snow now in most of Eugene. Those wet roads downtown are quickly turning white.

Temp is bouncing like a 1992 Geo Metro that is still rockin it’s original tires. 31 to 34 to 32 to 34 to 31 to currently 34. DP is steadily declining however...down to 24.,
