Could end up with a sub-50 high today.

Was quite snowy up here on 4/6/2011. 38/30 with 0.54" of precip at Silver Falls. The monthly mean was an astonishing 39.9 up here in April 2011.

I'm ready for the 4 corners high to build in and summer to start.  F this rain and s**t!

How does wildfire smoke from July 1st to September 30th sound?

Just enjoy the heavy convective rain while you can. Before you know it, it's gone until October.

12Z ECMWF shows another batch of rain overnight and then dry for tomorrow from about Kelso northward.

Perfect timing!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Looks like the north Oregon and south Washington cascade foothills could start catching up big time with their ongoing precip deficit. They have been one of the driest spots in the region relative to average the last few years.

That was very interesting. Peak winds arrived and it was doing 45-50mph gusts but it only lasted for about 15 minutes. Now there’s only a couple light breezes. Went from 30mph to 50mph to 10 or 15mph all within 45 minutes. Was a wild 15 minutes it rained and hailed too.

The GFS is showing that the 11th will be a brief return to winter with chilly stratiform drizzle and highs possibly not even breaking 50. If this verifies it would be about 10ºF below normal for the daily high. The ECMWF is showing a warmer solution, however.

The Plains region (including Denver) will be cold on that day, complete with snow, at least on the GFS.

Storm wind wise busted big time

The winds were advertised to be 45-50mph near the sound and on the coast. It ended up being a quick 20 minute burst here but it was cool to see. The winds were about 50mph I would estimate similar to the winds I saw on December 14th, but not as strong as December 20th or January 6th. Winds lasted longer in the other windstorms, this was much shorter than the storms that occurred earlier this winter. It was a very localized quick burst of wind. I video taped the winds when they came through at about 12:45-1:10.

Now I see the 18z GFS has a 4pm temperature of 75 on April 21st should I wear a light jacket or short sleeve shirt to work that day you think. However for Boston at 5pm the next day I see it is showing a temperature of 63.

Except that’s different because you’re looking at past 240 which is nothing more than a joke in most cases. Also 00z is 5PM for the Pacific time zone now. In addition, the GFS has been showing a chilly day for multiple models now, believe it or not. This is five days out, too, which is not a total crapshoot unlike April 21.

Sorry I triggered you so much by mentioning a specific number.

How much rain have you gotten the last few days?

Hillsboro Station (which is more representative of my area than Portland - farther from the Gorge + West Hills) is at 1.25" MTD. That's well above average. On a side note we are also above 10" YTD now.

This is far from a Ninoish recent MJO history and it's about to make another venture into the Indian Ocean region.  Going to be interesting to see where things go as far as ENSO is concerned.
