June 2019 Weather Discussion in the PNW

Recommended Posts

18z NAM is horrible.

Too bad the cell currently in the Eugene area is going to trend east leaving us high and dry while Cascade Locks gets to enjoy endless storms. They’re guaranteed precipitation with every single event.

It's quite good, plenty of strong thunderstorms east of the Cascades and on the crests. You never know, these models can't really pin down exacts.

Pea sized hail here in Redmond around 1:30 this afternoon with a torrential downpour. Recorded just over 1/2” in about 15 min. Been on and off thunder since then and now it’s partly sunny again. Looks to be some high tops building to the sw of me again.

Forecast discussion mentions this could go in til sunset. Then a slight chance tomorrow with spotty showers. Love Central Oregon for t-storms in the summer and snowfall potential in the winter. Fall and spring kind of suck though.

Referring to the valley. Total precip map is white for most of the Willamette Valley, including the Tualatin Valley.

Again, these things can't really pin down specifics. A shower or thunderstorm could develop here or there, there's certainly a chance.

From the NWS Portland. Quite the hailstorm in NE Clackamas County.

NWS Portland @NWSPortland

350 PM | Hail nearly covered US26 from the severe thunderstorm earlier in northeastern Clackamas County. We have not received any reports of the hail size that occurred. The threat of severe hail from that particular thunderstorm has since ended in Clackamas County. #pdxtst #orwx

Rain and occasional thunder for about 2 hours here... sky is bright again and the rain is letting up now.

Looks like about .40 here and .30 down in the valley.

Guest CulverJosh

That same band that clipped tigerwoods is going to brush by to my east but should hit me a little. Then one more cell moving through after that then look calm after that.

Wasn’t expecting lightning but was hopefully so it’s alright that it didn’t pan out. I was however expecting atleast some rainfall more than we’ve had this month. Only had 0.01” which brings the monthly total up to 0.11”. That is a bit disappointing but maybe we will have better luck over the next couple days.

HRRR shows what looks like convection over King County tomorrow afternoon...

Surprisingly... the HRRR from 36 hours ago had a pretty good handle on the general placement of the storms at 5 p.m. today.

Score on for the HRRR.   :)

Thunder is very frequent, almost a clap every twenty seconds or so. Numerous flashes and heavy rain to boot.
