Timmy Supercell
Squall line thunderstorm (almost severe!) passed through K-Falls just now with a 53mph gust at KLMT and lightning every 3-5 seconds. No footage of this but I'm sure I'll have another storm probably later today if they're as good. This should have happened during the watch; I had one of the loudest t'storms in the last few years. 3 Quote Ashland, KY Weather '23-'24 Winter Snowfall - 5.50" First freeze: 11/1 (32) Minimum: 2 on 1/17 Measurable snows: 4 Max 1 day snow: 3" (1/19) Thunders: 25 1/27, 1/28, 2/10, 2/22, 2/27, 2/28, 3/5, 3/6, 3/14, 3/15 3/26, 3/30, 3/31, 4/2, 4/3, 4/8, 5/4, 5/5, 5/6, 5/7 5/8, 5/15, 5/21, 5/22, 5/26, Severe storms: 2 ------------------------------------------------------- [Klamath Falls, OR 2010 to 2021] https://imgur.com/SuGTijl
BLI snowman
Literally the least likely place in Canada to experience a thunderstorm. Your odds double or even triple once you get to the mainland around Vancouver or the Fraser valley B788C8DF-77FF-4426-9398-B062907B13CB.pngI would think northern Nunavut would be the actual "worst" place in Canada for convection. We will see how much we have by this afternoon.Left home at 5 a.m. for WSU. Getting gas in Cle Elum now. Torrential rain from North Bend to the pass. Hard to see and lots of ponding water pulling the car. Looks like .70 in North Bend so far. At this point... probably safe to say we will not need to water at all this summer. Days are getting shorter and there is more rain ahead. Lush green summer of 2019. ShawniganLake
I would think northern Nunavut would be the actual "worst" place in Canada for convection.I would think you’re right. I should have said southern Canada. Although using Environment Canada’s threshold of lightning striking within 25km, the only city in Nunavut with data is Arviat and they average slightly more tstorm days than Victoria. Using their data, Nanaimo is quite a bit more likely to see a tstorm than Victoria, but Prince Rupert is the least likely city to see lightning in BC. TigerWoodsLibido
I don't see how that's possible. I know eugene is one of the worst places on the planet for storms, but I've heard at least a hundred or more this year alone. However, like an idiot I always go outside to soak it in.I wasn’t in the S Valley when we had them. It was always badly timed. The storms we had this past year had lightning and thunder in Eugene but not Springfield and went NNE. When I had already gotten back to town. I heard 1 clap of thunder earlier this year but haven’t seen any lightning since 2006. Jesse
Hit one hell of a storm coming into down from Adams and into Hood River around 8pm last night.
