snow_wizard
PDX down to 37, DP 7 with east winds sustained at 33, gusts to 45mph. Wow. SEA is also 37 with a dp of 3. Crazy stuff. I had thought PDX might drop to freezing this morning, but I think we traded some temperature drop for extreme low dp. Places that are able to decouple tonight could have some epic low temps. Meanwhile down to 36 here with a gust to 36 a bit earlier. Quote Death To Warm Anomalies! snow_wizard
Part of me was expecting much of the east metro to be stuck in the 40s all night once the wind kicked in, with a stubborn downslope component. Maybe PDX would get lucky and eke out a 24 hour low in the 30s this evening. The efficiency of cold air delivery even with the strong winds has been impressive. The WRF was spitting out some ridiculous numbers so I figured it would at least be respectable. Quote Death To Warm Anomalies! snow_wizard
Not saying that at all. This winter could be like 2009-10. There is almost no chance of a 2002-03 type winter. I looked up extreme cold events in Pullman and was surprised at how cold 2002 and 2009 were... wanted to see what those patterns looked like out of curiosity. 2002 and 2009 didn't have the other incarnations of cold we have seen this month though. This October we have cold that is more typical of La Nina years and neutral years, as well as this more Ninoesque looking incarnation. That's pretty ironic considering we are seeing a more Ninaish look in the tropics right now. 1 Quote Death To Warm Anomalies!
