Looks like Bozeman Airport just shattered their all-time October record low... -13F.

After remaining above freezing all night due to winds and mixing, the wind died this morning at KBLI, and the temperature promptly dropped to freezing. If tonight is calm and clear, mid-20s seem easily attainable.

2009 was impressively cold, but disappointingly dry. Still, that latter part kept the highways open through the Columbia Gorge for the whole event. I was living in PDX at the time, and it gave me the perfect opportunity to see frozen waterfalls.

SEA is at 38 with a dewpoint of -4 right now.

 

Wind just calmed down significantly here.

East wind is still rolling pretty good here in north Tacoma. Trees are de-leafed and a few big tree branches cane down last night. Beautiful sunrise but very chilly and breezy 37 with a DP of 4. Still managed to get down to 37 from 45 even with decent East winds blowing here.

Boring back door blast. Did record a 2.5mph gust which was probably a 12mph gust in reality. Currently 28.9 with a DP of 23. Nice morning! Lots of frost!

The overall numbers across the West will end up more impressive with this. As I said, I think it will end up with more monthly cold records for the West than any month since Dec 1990.

I still have a dew point of 24 with no wind and abundant frost. Low was 25 and it’s now w 26. A straight East wind rarely affects us here.

That was the first huge windstorm I ever experienced. The Coast got absolutely rocked with that one.

East winds blowing over the Cascades and right down the McKenzie River drainage! Solid 25mph+ gusts at times. Love these days!! 37F and DP of 17F lol. Really hope this isn’t 2002 and all we get.

Not sure what happened down there at that time, but I remember in '02 or '03 we scored at least a foot of snow in March.

March ‘02. That ‘01-‘02 winter was pretty good for Northern areas. No arctic air but plenty of snow. A little something in every month

2nd straight morning with at least 37 degrees for a low in Sacramento. Back to back 37's have never happened before in October, with records since 1877. 

 

At 8 AM, Sacramento was 37 degrees, dp of 28, with a NW breeze and windchill of 32. In October....
