Gorgeous sunset from Mt Tabor park. Lots of big, downed trees on the north and east side of the park from our ARCTIC WINDS three weeks ago. But honestly the damage wasn’t quite as bad as I feared. I guess the historic shelter took a pretty good hit but that part of the park was cordoned off.
I was intrigued so I looked up the average high and low temperatures across WA for August of 1899. Olga's average low of 45F is pretty impressive as it's about 4 degrees colder than anything we've seen in the last 50 years. The fact it's so much colder than every other location on the west side does make me wonder if there was an error with the thermometer at that time or maybe it was just incredible cold winds blowing off the straight.
The Seattle average high for the month was almost 10 d
Yeah, we had to go in from the east mesa trailhead. Pretty long walk from the parking lot but so worth it. We drove back through the Mt.Carmel Highway and saw some Bighorn sheep along the way. One more day here tomorrow then we’re heading to Bryce Canyon.
He downvoted my picture yesterday of the dogs as well…He must hate moms, sun, and dogs! Or he has become very nervous that we had a couple of nice days after a great shot of rain and cold beforehand!
And now it has cleared out more than forecast and we'll be able to land in these conditions and begin our Denali climb. Hope all of you guys have great weather in the PNW for the next few weeks, I'll probably be back to civilization in 2-3 weeks so until then, no model riding! Root for good weather here please, which would be sunny days and a lack of wind!
