Big 7.5 earthquake in Taiwan.  Check #Taiwan for tweets, lots of videos there.  And check the latest.

They are evaluating possibilities for tsunamis for the US West Coast.

EDIT:  NO threat to the US

And a 2.9 earthquake 90 miles north of PDX in Lewis County this afternoon.

Looks like PDX hit 78 today. A massive overachievement per their usual but at least it wasn’t a record high. They missed the record high of 79 (1944 and 1992) by a degree.

76/43 at VUO.

75 here for a 75/44 day.

Nice temp drop going on though. Down to 67 from a high of 77 here with a west wind and really cool clouds.

I was just going to post about that. Awesome looking clouds out there and it’s down to 66 here now. Looking forward to afternoon high temps being 20-25 degrees cooler tomorrow. This sort of stuff makes spring enjoyable around here.

1992, interesting. Coming off a YUGE Nino. Not sure what SLE hit but they were 73 last I checked. Only a high near 40 here on Thursday. Or so they say.

Cool ending... also think the sun was just about to pop out under the cloud deck right before it sets at the end there.   I saw that happen on the Mariners game broadcast about 15 minutes ago.

Just had some huge raindrops here... totally calm still.   Not enough to even wet the deck but the petrichor smell is strong right now.   Smells like rain!

Crazy.  0% chance of that here.

After the front tonight there is not much precip the rest of the week up here except for a little wrap around light rain Thursday afternoon.

We have to re-sod our lawn this year.   Probably going to wait until early May though since I am still on crutches and don't want to deal with watering yet.   Really should have irrigation system installed but that is pretty expensive.

I went the redneck irrigation route.  I bought the Hinter pop up sprinker heads, mounted  them on a sprinkler spike base with an adapter, and daisy chained them together.  I used a wifi faucet timer, and hid the whole set up in the landscaping.  It worked really good last year for the front yard.

I need to figure out the backyard this year as I'll be completely redoing the grass back there in the next few weeks.

In the fall I drain the hoses, roll it up and throw the set up on a hook in the garage.  It cost me $100-150 or so with the most expensive part being the wifi timer.  It will probably cost me about $200 or so for the backyard.

7.5 quake followed immediately by 7.4 aftershock. There was also a landslide caused by the quake. Some of the images and videos are amazing.

Seeing these big earthquakes always makes me nervous about a Cascadia subduction zone earthquake. It will happen again just a matter of when.

Epilepsy sucks.

That really sucks man, I'm sorry you are going through this.  Insurance companies are so ridiculous.  When I was in urgent care this weekend for my eye the MA who took my vitals happened to be the MA for my Primary care Doc.  We were talking about my insurance issue, and she said it seems like all they do now is fight with insurance companies.

Hopefully someone at some point will recognize a year's worth of your prescription is less expensive than a hospital stay!!  I  doubt it, insurance companies are too f*uckin' stupid.

Thunder!

It was only one, but wow was it deep rumble that started like a freight train, then a big thud that actually made the house creak… I almost thought we were in the beginning stages of an earthquake. Definitely not the usual clap of thunder.
