The only accumulation we’ve seen here the past couple of days has been pollen.

Right after my corneal abrasion healed up and I was getting over my sinus infection, I got a face full of pollen while trimming a tree last week.  Almost sent me back to square one thanks to my allergies, but I think I am recovered from that now, just have to limit my time outside while my immune systems settles down.

Growing up in Georgia, I am very much accustomed to things being covered in a very thick green film, and when it would rain, puddles would have a thick layer of green on the surface.  When I moved out to the Willamette Valley, then up to Bellingham, I never saw that.  Once in a while you could just barely see a fine dusting of pollen but that's it.

The past couple of years the pollen has been really thick up here, rivaling a "typical" Georgia spring.

Loblolly Pine pollen in South Carolina was terrible too.  Everything COATED in florescent yellow for a month every year, usually March

When I was little I was inside watching Saturday morning cartoons and my mom was outside working in the flower beds.  We had the windows open to air out the house, and my mom started yelling for me.  I ran to the window and she yelled at me to hurry up and close the windows.  I looked up the street and I could see this huge green cloud blowing down the street headed our way, and as the gust wall hit each tree, the tree shook off a bunch of pollen that added to the cloud.  It was pretty wild.

You must be quite high up

It was a heavier shower that dragged the snow level down with it. It was only a few flakes mixing in here and there. I’m only at about 410 feet elevation.

Some flakes mixing in here currently.

Had a hail/graupel shower here a little while ago.   Looks like sun is about to come out again now.

Eastern whites doing the same thing here now. Like yellow smoke blowing off the trees. When I get home I’ll take a pic of my car it’s 😂

No drought in Tacoma. We have the Puget Sound right here so it makes sense.

Seattle won't have any water supply issues.  Chester Morse Reservoir is at 100%.   Which probably happens even when precip is way below normal because we have so much cushion and outflow can easily be managed.  Controlling the level so water doesn’t top the dam is the goal there.

Here is the historical average level of Chester Morse Reservoir compared to the current year.  It doesn't change much in any season.

Lol, yes….being retired or taking more vacations time helps in putting the miles on these machines.  As long as I have energy I’m staying away from the house and exploring before my body says otherwise. Every day counts as I know life can slam you quickly !!!  This is also great way to deal with being divorced 😁

In Summary for 2024 to date

Temp +2.1

Precip: -.37

Snow: -5.7

when you only average around 16" of precip a year, anything negative makes a big difference in water table and usage/restrictions

I remember when everyone was telling me Feb would be colder than average because it’s Feb.

Turns out it’s tough to beat niño climo.
