My wife took it upon herself to create a new WB account for me and paid for an entire year.    She said I had set it up for monthly and that is more expensive.    I remember thinking I was just going to try it for a few months when I first signed up and then never updated it.    So now I cancelled my existing account and switched to the new one.   She gave up trying to convince me its not worth it and decided to take matters into her own hands to lower the cost.   :)

I usually only subscribe during the winter months and I have to say, the performance of the site and issues surrounding the Euro releases have left me a little underwhelmed this year. I don't remember it being like this last winter or the year before. For $25/month we shouldn't still be waiting for 12z Euro maps at 10:30. Frustrating. If it wasn't for the depth and quality of maps available I'd switch to a cheaper alternative.

One hit after another...pretty impressive to see, even if it's ~2 weeks out.

Yeah it's not terrible. I just wanted to show TWL was not "making stuff up."

It definitely wasn’t worse than the operational, which is what I got out of the comment. Much much better, in fact.

Never said anyone was making stuff up for the record. A comment like “ensembles are worse” is pretty vague.

I have heard about people who buy studs or screws and put them in the tires.  I would think it would help.   I plan to ask the guy who tunes up my snowblower next year to either install them or get new tires with studs.

Honda. Yea i think its because i have a huge gravel driveway thats super uneven and i'm still getting used to working with it. There's also the odd piece of wood or branch in places. Ive probably gone through 5 shear bolts in 2 months, maybe ~6 heavy sessions in that time.

00z EPS. Pretty much the ideal pattern to bottle arctic air into Western Canada. NPAC ridge blocks the Pacific, NAO ridge prevents the cold from getting flushed off to the East/Northeast.

A few members are cold enough for snow down to 1000'.

Remember SLE has not had an 850mb temp recorded at -10C or lower in January since 1982, they actually got close last year, but couldn't get the job done.

Once we get into clown range the GEFS is fairly similar to previous runs, maybe slightly better.

As for Mark Nelsen on Facebook. He actually said something along the lines of: "Still no sign of cold/snow in the lowlands for the next 10 days, in a couple days I probably will not be able to say that."

Imagine getting all that snow with 850mb temps never dropping below -7C?

Clark County had 3 feet of snow from January 7-10, 1980 with 850mb temps never getting below -5c.

The battle zones and peripheries of arctic airmasses are where you usually want to be.

Honda. Yea i think its because i have a huge gravel driveway thats super uneven and i'm still getting used to working with it. There's also the odd piece of wood or branch in places. Ive probably gone through 5 shear bolts in 2 months, maybe ~6 heavy sessions in that time.

Wow I have never broke one on my Honda in 8 seasons and I have put a lot of hidden pine cones through it 🙂

Day 10 does look like anything too interesting in terms of cold air... and yet the ensembles keep showing it gets very interesting immediately afterwards.

No thank you.

Though that dry arctic blast at the end of the month was great.

We got overrunning snow out of that one too, on the 31st.

Seems like a warm nose ran up the eastern valley with it, though. 33F rain at Winters Hill 🤓

Frustrating month I guess. lol. I would still take that cold snap. A four day run at Silver Falls of:

31/6
27/3
31/1

33/5

Looks like 40/20 on the 31st with 0.05" of precip. :(

I was living in Vancouver WA during the Jan 1980 snowstorm.  We never had more than 10-12” on the ground at our home near DuBois park in the heights.  Amazing that just a few miles N of us as well as toward the gorge there was twice or thrice as much snow
