tim the weatherman
lot just said that late friday into saturday,'s storm can mix with sleet freezing rain rain and snow for portions of the forecast particually south of the kankakee river from gilman to the il in state line. Tom
Wondering if NE IL/SE WI get some LehS from the Fri/Sat system. Geo's, do you know what Delta T's will be??? Temps look to be in low 20's.
The Snowman
Anyone have an idea of ratios for this storm? GGEM throws down 0.7" to 0.8" QPF IMBY...
Tom
I think snow ratios will be around 12:1...850's's on the 00z Euro weren't the best for very fluffy snow. GGEM is showing much colder temps and so is the GFS. I would say a safe bet would be 12:1 up to 14:1 if the colder solutions transpire.
Tom
12z Euro brings 32F up to Kankakee area...850's are only -2C for ORD so that is not ideal for higher snow ratios. Here is the qpf...

Here is the qpf... Well EURO looks wetter at least. I'd stick with 10:1 for most of storm at least. Solid 6-8 inches seems like. Maybe a tad more in some areas. Tom
ORD may get 8" out of this event....48.2" officially, plus a new 8" would bring the snow total to 56". That would be a remarkable total snowfall through the end of January. Probably going to make it to #2 snowiest January on record.
