This is feeling a little like a 21st century version (watered down) of Decembers 1917 and 1933. 1917-18 at least got going in the back half of winter. 1933-34 went the other direction.

Central Valley and Bay Area weather continues to suck.

We had some chilly weather and snow around the holidays here that winter. Could be a decent match.

If 3.5" falls this weekend in Chicago, it will be the snowiest December since 2016. Even if not, it seems inevitable to reach that.
