ToastedRavs
Wow. These trends don't bode well for me here outside Des Moines. Maybe two inches at best now. I expect trimmings of advisory if Canadian and Euro come in similar.
Tom
Is that a weenie band right through KC? Wish this model was a bit more reliable.RGEM is quite accurate within this range. You should be good for 3-5" IMO.

Iowa2015
Looks a little futher north to me then short term modals said But EC i think has the best handle on this looks rather weak on Radar prob due to all the dry air in place. gabel23
Is it snowing good out in NE???The flakes this morning where much bigger, but it's still snowing. By the way it looked I had around an inch or an inch and a half at 7 this morning. I will have an official measurement when I get home today. Hoping to pick up 3", sounds like Columbus was the big winner so far. My wife teaches there and we have some teachers who commute here and it sounds like they had around 4" as of this morning. Jaycee
Lincoln is the big loser. As usual lol, hardly snowing, dry air is ruining this. Omaha is definitely good for 3-4" with that band setting up. EDIT: whoops, meant 3-4", not 6".
hlcater
This is moving straight East or dare I say even slightly northeast? Quote 2021-22 Snowfall: (Hiawatha) TOTAL: 10.2" (12/28: 3.0") (12/29: 0.8") (1/1: 6.4")

NEJeremy
It's coming down pretty hard in central Omaha, has been for probably the last 30 minutes. It was basically pixie dust most of this morning, but the flakes are larger now. I'd say we're at maybe 1.5-2". I don't think anyone is going to get 6" out of this. I think 3-4" will be the norm, maybe a 5" somewhere in east central Nebraska.
gabel23
I would say my area lucked out again; I have been on the edge of almost every storm so far this year and it works out to where my area is right up against the heaviest! I think areas along highway 92 from St. Paul towards Omaha should see 3-5" with isolated 6" in spots. The snow forecast has changed so much from this storm though, pretty crazy! 000NWUS53 KGID 191605LSRGIDPRELIMINARY LOCAL STORM REPORTNATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HASTINGS NE1005 AM CST TUE JAN 19 2016..TIME... ...EVENT... ...CITY LOCATION... ...LAT.LON.....DATE... ....MAG.... ..COUNTY LOCATION..ST.. ...SOURCE......REMARKS..0830 AM SNOW ST. Jaycee
Maybe we can crack 1" in Lincoln.Lol right? I hate how Omaha people think they have the "Omadome", bs. The Lincodome is way stronger. They have double our snow total this year. We'll be lucky to see over an inch here, maybe 2" if we're lucky. They have double our snow total this year. We'll be lucky to see over an inch here, maybe 2" if we're lucky.Mmm looking at climatology we(Lincoln and Omaha) either both have a dome or don't if you look at the seasonal totals 2015: Lincoln 24.2" Omaha 24.9"2014: Lincoln 17.4" Omaha 17.4"2013: Lincoln 28.3" Omaha 31.8" It's true we have done better this winter so far, but 8" of what we have had was a "fluke" 20 mile wide band that set up over Omaha. I know it all counts in the end though. Really if you look back at 2015 in total, you guys had 2x as much as us in Jan-Feb 2015 so even though we had 2x as much in December of 2015 that just basically made up the difference for total in 2015. Jan '15: Lincoln 3.9" Omaha 4.1"Feb '15: Lincoln 12.4" Omaha 6.4"Dec '15: Lincoln 6.1" Omaha 12.3"
Iowa2015
Afternoon radar looks as if it's moving due east even a little northeast snow well north of 1-80 mod-rate snow moving up from the south differently not moving south like short term modals indicated. My guess at least sorthern Iowa end up with more then the 1-2 currently forcasted.
OKwx2k4
If snow domes are real, I live in eastern Okladoma. Lol. :-)
Hawkeye
Given the official hourly precip totals from Omaha and Lamoni, it appears the snow ratios are only in the 10-12 to 1 range... so the cold temp isn't help much. At one point later yesterday it was looking like we may not get anything at all, but the HRRR is trending toward an inch or so this evening. Geos
I'm guessing a lot of the snow along the northern edge was that sugar type snow. Looking at a sounding east of Des Moines would suggest fairly small flakes with temps struggling to push over -10°C in the DGZ.
