Tom
Already bands of snow are forming off of LM down near Chicago and Waukegan...snowing aloft but not reaching the ground yet as the synoptic moisture runs over the easterly flow off the lake you can see the radar light up lake side. Niko
TWC is actually playing TV shows instead of making live reports on the "Big Blizzard" that is going to take place. Unfortunately, TWC is not what is used to be. I remember during the "93 Superstorm", they were on top of the storm constantly. They had done a great job during that time. 1 Quote Snowfall for Winter 2023 -24 for Metro Detroit Area Oct 2023: 0.2" AN Nov 2023: 2.2" AN Dec 2023: 0.5" BN Insane! Unfortunately, TWC is not what is used to be. I remember during the "93 Superstorm", they were on top of the storm constantly. They had done a great job during that time. They've been doing pre-blizzard coverage all day and when it begins they'll be nonstop. They'll have people in DC, Philly, NYC, and Boston and their experts will be in the studio. There's nothing going on tonight and TWC has never had live weather coverage overnight if there's nothing big going on. 2 Quote season snowfall: 34.8" '22-23: 30.2" '21-22: 27.1" '20-21: 52.5" '19-20: 36.2" '18-19: 50.2" '17-18: 39.5" Average snowfall: ~30"
Hawkeye
I had 2.8 inches at 10:30pm. The heavier snow appears to be over. The rest of the night the snow should be light to occasionally moderate. I was thinking 3-6" for a total. Given we've already reached the low end we should be able to get about 6 by morning. There's nothing going on tonight and TWC has never had live weather coverage overnight if there's nothing big going on.TWC is not the way it use to be. Now with all the stupid shows they play is pathetic. I think back in the 90s, they were more into a storm than what they are now. As for Live coverage, each reporter should have been reporting live from each city tonight telling the viewers out there how everyone is preparing and how each city will cope with the storm and reporting from other parts of the area as well, such as Supermarkets, Home Depots, speaking to Sanitation Depts, talking with residents and asking them how they are preparing for the storm as well and etc. I can go on and on. Thats a storm coverage. Also, they were not doing a pre-blizzard coverage all day. They were playing shows during the afternoon. I saw it. Hawkeye
The storm was pretty good for the first couple hours last evening. I received 2.8 inches in the first 2.5 hours. Since then, I've only received an additional 1.5 inches in 8 hours. I won't have to gas up the blower because the pavement only has a couple inches on it. Given the cold three days leading up to this storm, I thought it would pile up better on the pavement.
