I wonder where I've seen this before? Oh, right..

We need a cold pool against the coast this time around.

The path of Maria is unbelievable.

I saw numerous stories about the people from Puerto Rico and St. Croix helping out and even sending boats to the islands destroyed by Irma and now just a couple weeks later they are about to be devastated by yet another category 5 hurricane.

Yeah it is. One two punch for the Virgin Islands. If there were buildings that weren't damaged from Irma, Maria looks to continue.

No doubt.

I saw people being interviewed in St. Croix saying that they had been blessed by God and spared destruction from Irma and they might be taking in school children from Barbuda. What are the odd that their island would be leveled by a Cat 5 hurricane just a couple weeks later?

Absolutely dumping rain again here. Complete flip to feeling like winter... even turned on the furnace last night!

Everything here is thoroughly soaked.... watering season is over.

Yikes..Maria 165mph, gusts to 200mph. Hopefully an ERC occurs before landfall, otherwise Puerto Rico is in huge trouble.

I wonder what the modern media would have done if we repeated the 1893 hurricane season? Would they pass out while frothing at the mouth?

-Cat 2 landfall in Honduras in July, "large" loss of life

-"Hurricane San Roque" in August; Cat 3 landfall in Puerto Rico followed by Cat 1 landfall in Halifax, NS

-"New York Hurricane of 1893" in August; direct hit on New York City @ 85 mph, first since 1821

-Cat 2 landfall on Sable Island, Nova Scotia in August followed by 90 mph landfall on Newfoundland

-"The Sea Islands Hurricane of 1893" in late August; landfall near Savannah with 2,000+ drowned by surge on the Sea Islands

-Cat 2 landfall on the Azores in late August, probably the most destructive hurricane on record there

-95 mph landfall on Louisiana coast in early September

-"The Great Charleston Hurricane of 1893"; Cat 3 landfall near Myrtle Beach in October

-"The Cheniere Caminada Hurricane" in early October; Cat 4 landfall in Louisiana with 16 foot surge; 2,000 killed (five weeks after 2,000 had died in GA)

First CZ of the season? Kind of looks like it.

Yeah I was just on 520 about 30 minutes ago and it was dumping rain. Really dark towards the south. Duvall getting hosed right now.

There's a huge oil refinery on St. Croix that's probably going to get knocked out by Maria.

Crud..extrapolated pressure down to 905.6mb.

By comparison, Irma bottomed out at 914mb.

The winds are probably going to jump to 175 mph at the next update.
