January Weather In the PNW

What just annoys me is the fact you’ll give crap for doing what your doing now. Posting 10 day surface maps and 15 day EPS maps that you’d give flack for other people for posting. Personally, I like all the maps so if you continued what you’ve been doing the last couple days then that’s fine. It just irks me when someone will post a 10 day surface temp map and you say “Well it’s a surface map 10 days out” then do it yourself. BTW I don’t always think you do it to be a Debbie downer necessarily.

 

Edit: just to clarify; I’m not objecting to your posts this week, just the flack you’ll give others for doing the same on other occasions.

 

Unique situation this week.   

 

I don't normally post day 10 surface maps either... or the EPS at day 15 unless is actually is meaningful to what we are tracking.    Usually the EPS is smoothed out to the point of being meaningless at that range.  

 

I also rarely mention anything when some posts a surface map way out in the future that shows something they like... usually its done just for fun.

If we can verify a nice event where everyone scores I am totally fine with a late month torch.

 

If its going to torch... then I hope its a wet torch in the second half of February.   I will not be happy if we miss out on a week of sunshine and temps in the 60s.    That actually happened here in mid February of 1996.  

 

That should give you guys a reason to cheer for 65 and sun for an extended period... knowing that our trip was poorly timed.

Yeah... that block is in the perfect spot.   I have a good feeling this is going to be the real deal.   Timing is right in the sweet spot for a Nina too.

The EPS 2M temp mean for places in Washington at least are only different by a degree or two at the most in the 12Z run vs. the 0Z run. However, I will say that when we actually get an arctic outbreak, often the models move up the timing, not move it back.

 

And the ECMWF weeklies come out this evening, I think.

Hopefully the models stop pushing out the Arctic air. I think we can get an Arctic Blast as long as the block doesn't become too top heavy. There are some signs that could be the case.

That looks great considering it's the mean that far out. At the very least we should get a nice backdoor modified Arctic Blast shot with the potential for a major Blast.
