Feb 28th - March 2nd Storm System

Its been a rather heavy rainfall over the last few hours as I sit underneath the defo band of this system.  Raw, wet, chilly and blustery day as March opens up like lion.  Where were these dynamic systems in the winter months???

Looks like this winter went out of its way to aggravate us..Periods of very cold weather with no storms anywhere.. Then we start a very stormy period with no cold air around.

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport with 0.57 LE the last four hours (which implies VERY heavy snow).

 

The rain there changed to snow 4 hours ago.

 

Ann Arbor with 0.62 LE the last four hours; and they have likewise seen some very heavy snow.

Michigan has seen some nice snow, but not an "A" for me.  Currently at 80+ inches for the winter.   I haven't had snow on the ground in 2 weeks.  Barely a pile left except for parking lots.  First time it hit 60+ (at GRR) three times in February ever.  Most of our snow was lake effect early in the season.  I guess it depends where you live.  It's really been an up and down season.  More downs though.

I would give our snow a C, but the cold and wind a B.  We don't have sustained cold for the entire winter here like some places way up north, but the cold snaps have seemed worse this year when we did have snow on the ground.  Our snow is now 99% gone.  Don't know if we will have much more, but this time of year any new snow doesn't last very long.

That's true, I didn't see a drop (of rain or snow) from the latest storm.  My county was under a WWA for some reason.

5.1 was the closest report I could find to macomb

2.5" of the sludge snow at home in Marshall, most on elevated surf's. Take an inch off that on the grass, and pavement was mostly just wet. Got me to 60" tho!
