I think December will end up way better than this coming event for most of western WA.

Well that would be unfortunate. Dec wasn't all that memorable for the central sound, IMO. A few really cold dry days and non-sticking wet snow. 😢

Take this statement with a grain of "Tim"

I did qualify it by saying most... but I remember rain turning to heavy snow in Seattle on 12/20 and a biting cold east wind a couple days later.    It was really impressive from downtown Seattle north and eastward and not likely to be exceeded this time around.

Tim......can you tell us what the models say?

55 and rain by next Saturday?

They do not show 55 and rain by next Saturday.

Although the ECMWF shows 48 and cloudy that day.    The EPS only shows 40 that day.

That's what my phone app says too.  Thought we might get five solid chilly days.  Guess we shall soon find out.

I'm thinking the cold is coming for Western Washington and the cold and snow is going to be headed into Oregon.

Just just never know when these buggers are going further south or pulling back up north.

Could it end up being another Vancouver Island special?  Very well could.

You definitely sound like how I imagine hour 364 would post if it had an account here ;)

I feel like the historic nature of that event hasn’t really gotten the credit it’s deserved on this forum. We’ll appreciate it more as the years go by.

I woke up on April 12th, my wedding anniversary and had 2.5 inches that day. We had snow six days in a row that week and the older kids had an Easter egg hunt on that Saturday with flurries falling. I'll never forget a snowy anniversary because it probably won't happen again. It also was more snow per day than what I've had this winter. Last year my total was at least 20 inches (but likely more because the forum is missing Dec '21).

December 20th was straight up crazy in the Seattle area... heavy snow as the cold air rushed in behind the low.   Followed by a very cold east wind with temps in the teens in many places.

Places to the north of Seattle up through Vancouver had deep snow on the ground for several days.   Not seeing this event being as dynamic.

Meh…It was okay. Could have used a few more inches.

No ty. Bad thoughts over there for me.

OT:

DoE has admitted that it's likely my grandfather's melanoma and my mother's 3 separate cancers were all caused by my grandfather having a job at Hanford in Richland during the peak of the cold war.  My mother was born in Richland.  We got compensated by the DoE for agreeing to not sue the govt.

and probably the capital of all snow holes in the PNW. Lewiston and Tacoma's snow holes don't compare to it.
