Excluding 2019.. has there been any recent snowstorms for the pnw lowlands after Feb 20th? Seems late in the year

There was a good snow event just last year in the last week of February.

You can probably dig through it to find the last one. But there are samples out there. Depending on your search criteria.

All I can say is this is by far our best setup of the winter, and yet we still can't help but hear bellyaching about it.

I feel like the historic nature of that event hasn’t really gotten the credit it’s deserved on this forum. We’ll appreciate it more as the years go by.

It wasn't focused on the Puget Sound Lowlands, so it will never get much play here.

It was amazing from Chehalis to Wilsonville but folks outside of that were left out and probably less aware of how impressive it was.

No ty. Bad thoughts over there for me.

OT:

DoE has admitted that it's likely my grandfather's melanoma and my mother's 3 separate cancers were all caused by my grandfather having a job at Hanford in Richland during the peak of the cold war.  My mother was born in Richland.  We got compensated by the DoE for agreeing to not sue the govt.

Andrew’s model analysis has always been a reflection of his emotional state. 😂 Which is often in conflict with actual model projections.

December 20th was straight up crazy in the Seattle area... heavy snow as the cold air rushed in behind the low.   Followed by a very cold east wind with temps in the teens in many places.

Places to the north of Seattle up through Vancouver had deep snow on the ground for several days.   Not seeing this event being as dynamic.

It is a much more impressive upper level setup.

Looks like the lack of appreciation around here is finally being appreciated to at least an appreciable degree.

What’s this place gonna look like during the next bonafide dud winter? Been 7 years, which covers the entire memory span of our youngest members. 😬

Yeah I still think it’s crazy some people managed a 6”+ snow event in the 2nd week of April. That really was something truly special for April. Just goes to show if the perfect setup happens there can still be major lowland snow in March and the first half of April. Just doesn’t happen often.

It was a top 5 one day snowfall events for the Victoria area in the month of December.

The 20F high here was the coldest at Shawnigan Lake since 1990, I believe.

Its really sad that such a pathetic event is the bar for this winter and we might not surpass it with this late February event.  :(

12Z GFS is much less snowy for western WA going into the cold.    Over the last two days... the focus on the snow going into the cold has been shifting south on the GFS runs.    Previously over Whatcom County and SW BC and now over western OR on the 12Z run.

They’ll be fine, as long as they have their MySpace.com, Pokémons, Tide Pods and rock and roll music to keep them distracted and entertained.
