He needs a heart transplant as soon as possible. He became sick the 1st week of November and turned very ill around Thanksgiving. Blood clots in both right and left ventricles. Liver and kidney issues, but those are slowly and steadily improved. It's very serious and very saddening. Thank you for asking.

Just went out. Roads are covered in limbs and pine cones. Some PSE trucks out in random places as well. Winds seem to be slackening off a little now.

Just came home from bar hopping in Kirkland. Very, very gusty down there and the wife texted me saying it was cranking up at our house a little earlier.

Lots of trees and big tree limbs down between Kirkland and Carnation. Drove through 3 or 4 areas without power as well. I wasn't able to enjoy it as much as I normally do but glad to see it semi-overperformed.

Late night ;)

Thank you all, I greatly appreciate it. We are being told that "time is of the essence" and in fact the doctors, cardiologists are surprised his heart is still functioning. We don't know if he will be going to the UW Medical Center, Spokane, or Los Angeles. We are REALLY hoping/praying for UW/Seattle!

Hoping the 00z EURO offers some blocking before Day 10.

Tuesday has a lot of potential (not only for wind) but for heavy rain and high waves. It could be a genuinely stormy day, akin to something like December 7th, 2015, though I expect the gusts could be a bit higher and the rainfall totals quite a bit lower. Anyone else see the potential?

Forecasts are showing the pineapple express event on Tuesday to be weakening. This morning it was forecasted at 1.25” Tuesday, now 0.75” Tuesday but with another 0.75” on Thursday. In addition, Monday will have significant precip.

It will not even get close to December 2015. However, it will push December rainfall totals to above-normal levels.

Do Pineapple Express events reduce drought?

Did I say it would? The combination of wind and rain would allow for a similar kind of day to 12/7/15. As I said, the rain totals will be a lot less. But dark, stormy, and at least blustery looks probable.

Edited my post, I didn’t say enough. Same situation as Dec 2015 (atmospheric river from Hawaii), but much weaker rainfall.

The euro is hot garbage tonight, looks like split flow and nothing remotely interesting.

Monday-Friday looks stormy enough.

00z CMCE flat ridging, zero amplification......

It seems we take 1 step forward, then 1 step back, then 2 steps forward, and now 15 backwards at a rapid pace. Jeez.

I just saw this on Michael Ventrice's twitter. Blah. Let's nope the models are just in havoc mode due to the SSW event/PV Split.

Latest ECMWF Week 2 forecast has backed away from the impressive blocking signature over the North Pacific into North Pole. This shift resulted in less cold air directed towards North America, putting cold late December and early January calls at risk for failure.

WRF shows something like 12 hours of 30-40kt gusts for the Willamette Valley and a butt load of rain. AR pointed right at western OR. I dunno what the EURO shows though.

Alright, I was wondering whether I was misinterpreting the models, because that's what I see as well. EURO shows some 45-60 mph gusts in the Willamette Valley. Lots of rain as well.
