Tom
I've decided to start a thread that will cover the multiple waves during this multi-day event throughout the week. Models are keeping an active pattern just to the south of the arctic boundary set up across the northern tier of our Sub. Over the course of this week, there are 2-3 waves that will likely drop some decent snows across the MW/GL's region. Let's discuss... First, for the Tue/Wed system the GFS/NAM/GGEM are suggesting the main snows fall from N IL on north... There is another separate wave showing up on Thu as well... 12z GFS... 12z GGEM... Hawkeye
The reason why the Friday/Saturday storm is weakening/disappearing is the energy near the coast of Washington. The larger storm scenario had that chunk of energy swinging through the midwest ahead of the PV intrusion. The euro, however, keeps that energy parked off the coast and never brings it east. So, we just get a weak inpulse ahead of the cold plunge. 1 Quote season snowfall: 34.8" '22-23: 30.2" '21-22: 27.1" '20-21: 52.5" '19-20: 36.2" '18-19: 50.2" '17-18: 39.5" Average snowfall: ~30"
