March 2019 Weather Discussion in the PNW

Wish we could trust the euro for the overruning event shown on Wednesday but I get the feeling it is about to get spanked by the GFS yet again.

Nothing agrees with the track of the low on the euro except the NAVGEM. Maybe the UKMET does too but haven't checked that one.

That looks beautiful.

Big shift in the PNA forecast, looks to go positive by mid month now!

Jet extension! But that won’t necessarily equate to ridging, or at least not for an extended period of time (even if it registers as a +PNA..IE: Aleutian/NPAC/GOA troughing, etc).

It almost wish the PNA/AO/NAO index values were not updated in real time, haha. Everyone spouts off about them and what they supposedly mean for sensible weather without even trying to understand them mathematically.

He actually destroyed a perfectly good gutter to get that patch of green grass in a photo.

That would not shock me.

You seem only interested in commenting on me lately. Did you read my posts about the EPS lately? Or are you so excited to troll me that you can't contain yourself! :)

Here's an interesting statistical anomaly, and shows the back-loaded nature of this winter:

At Pendleton, 1989 and 2019 are the only years on record (since the 1890's) that didn't see sub-25 maximums until February....and then saw them in both February and March.

PDX hit 26 this morning. You literally were the one who reported it.

There’s all sorts of trolling that goes on here, but straight up presenting false weather stats is really unnecessary. I will say, to Tim’s credit he never does that. He may cherrypick like a mofo, but at least everything he says is generally true. :)

Wow, I hit a 7 instead of 6 when I was typing and it's the end of the world. You really are special.

-10/-31 in Havre, MT today. Coldest day so late in the season since March 5, 1947. Prior to that, it had been since March 1897.

Also, this was the first -10 maximum in March since 1951.

Interestingly enough PDX has its earliest 80 on record about a week and a half after the 1947 reading.

East winds are usually a nice surprise in terms of strength. Either they’re far stronger than expected or far weaker. Models don’t seem to do so well with them.

Jesse has been on a major roll lately.

It’s on purpose, and this is exactly the kind of outcome he is going for. He’s probably laughing right now because I gave him what he wanted.

I won’t point it out next time. We can have made up stats flying around here all the time.

Well granted a lot of our discussion is stats and numbers based. And you generally provide a lot of good ones, it’s a shame to feel like I have to double check myself and can’t take your word for it just cuz you want to get a rise out of people. But in the end it’s your prerogative. I won’t mention it again.

It is really bizarre you think I did that on purpose.

Still 45 and very pleasant out there.  Will be even more pleasant once it gets all crispy overnight. Still can't see the grass even after all the upper 40s.  :)

I'm going to assume it's been quite some time since EUG and surrounding areas have had snow on the ground for a week +.

Post a pic!

I have half a mind to take a drive down there tomorrow. Torn between that and the east side. Crazy out of season snowpack in both places.
