April 2019 Weather Discussion in the PNW

Unlikely.

It's easy to assume more of the same will continue, but when you're seeing an extreme, that becomes increasingly rare as you extrapolate out. Especially with precip. And regardless of what models show at a given point.

There are many months that start out "on pace" to set one record or another, but only a small percentage get there.

I didn’t mean to imply that it would be the wettest month ever, I meant one of them, like a top 10 wet April possibly if it continues to rain. It may not though.

Just like the Mariners aren't going to score 1500 runs this year.

. Their offense has definitely gotten a lot better the last few years mainly because of hiring Edgar as the hitting coach/consultant. He was one of the best in the game with preparation which is one of the most important things for hitting success long term.

. With thousands of records and only 60-100yrs of data, broken records should be somewhat common. But I agree with what you are saying.

I hear ya. SEA has seen .25"+ on five of the past six days...that definitely will not continue all month.

Even so, they are at 1.61" on the month, not even close to on pace for a record. It will take a real soaker or two (like the 2"+ storm they had around this time last April, when Tim was convinced they were headed for a new record) to put them in contention.

12Z ECMWF is line with what the 12Z EPS showed yesterday.

The trough is more of a glancing blow later next week... as opposed to the deep trough it showed yesterday.   But I was told they are the exact same thing so it probably does not matter.   :)

East side has definitely been favored. We are over 1/3” for the day so far while PDX is just .13”

About 3” for the month to date here.

Here we have hit 5.69" for the monthly total this morning. And I bet your total is higher than most of the metro area, too.

Luckily I don’t have allergies because that happens every spring here. On a dry breezy day you can see clouds of pollen blowing thru the air.

You’re a lucky dude. Yeah, windy days will blow the stuff off the ground and the offending trees will have thick clouds of yellow dust propagating off them. Crazy.

I work outdoors and this is my busiest time of year, so I always have to carry one of those portable Kleenex bags and Afrin, haha.

Allregic rhinitis is no fun, especially if you are allergic to dust indoors. Just imagine what it is like to have a cold your whole life.

One person in my office has it year-round and the throat clearing every 2 minutes is not just annoying for her

Ugh, glad I don’t have that. Sounds like a miserable existence, honestly.

For whatever reason, I didn’t have the pollen issue as much as a kid, and it still wasn’t a serious issue until my early 20’s. And the really bizarre thing is that it seems to be on again/off again. Last year I was fine. But 2017 was the worst year ever. I think I had to take off work.

I read a study that heavy LSD use can trigger adult-onset allergies.

I had a friend who frequented LSD and can confirm that. Glad I never touched it. Stay natural my friends.

I don’t think it’s all bad. It was actually used therapeutically back in the 50s before it became stigmatized, with pretty high success rates for mitigating depression, etc. But, like anything, it can be misused/abused.

I've heard Opium can be very useful at subduing a huge population.

Difference in SSTAs between Niño Aprils that went onto be multiyear events and April’s following single year events that transitioned.

No surprise here..Indo-Pacific colder in cases that remained +ENSO. This year is (so far) following the multiyear +ENSO script.

It’s just best to stay away from anything illegal. Weed and alcohol are fine as long as you don’t choose to drive and endanger others. Drugs like LSD meth and acid all have interesting back stories, I believe Methanphetamine was actually created by the government as well if I recall. Many of these things were created for good purposes but obviously now drugs are out of control everywhere unfortunately.

LSD and rain, both unfairly stigmatized.

Starting to think the ridge around the 20th will turn into one of those situations where it keeps getting extended and turns into a fairly long warm and dry spell.

Nice!

48 for a high. Currently 46.

.23” on the day so far.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

I don’t see why since I’m usually wrong and don’t show proper respect to the EPS. :/

You are not usually wrong.    Just sometimes.   I am usually wrong.

I would like to think I know a few things.  You know, basic math, basic english, how to please a woman. Hell, I may even be the best meteorologist in a half block radius.   But let's set all that aside.  Let's talk about something real important.

Let's dissect a creature so lewd, so crude, so rude, he acts like a prude.  This dude: High Desert Mat

High:  Yep, he usually sniffs glue before he posts here.  And I know in the past he has been known to smoke the sacred grass.

Desert: Yep.  Whenever a girl sees him, it gets pretty arid in the nether regions.  Very desert-y, I must say.

Mat:  Yep. I normally wipe my shoes on him daily.  And when he gets too dirty, I give him the hose again.

Thoughts?
