Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

1958 was a totally snowless year. Although Vertigo was released, so it wasn't all bad.

Yeah must not have been 1958, maybe January 1959?!

Also February 1959! Big one on Valentine's Day that year, which was also Oregon's centennial.

I didn't realize that 1958/59 had some decent events, I thought it was a dud like the previous one from PDX snow data. That early January airmass looks impressive with good 6" of snow at Hillsboro with that.

That event was one where PDX was fairly out of line with the rest of the area (their east winds really ate into things I would imagine). Most of the metro area had 4-6" with that.

At least there is a decent trough in the mid range. This thing wasn’t even on the radar a week ago. Things can change fast.

I have this sickening feeling that the cost of gaining our normal summers back may very well be losing FEBRUARY. Just a hunch.

So we may yet have time to salvage and recover from the broken pieces after that DEVASTATING early week ridge?

LR guidance screams MJO phase-8.

D**n good match to composites tuned to seasonality, all things considered.

Late April?   All I see is a fairly typical short spring warm spike in mid April which may not even happen given how the last attempt failed.   But it would bring all the plant life out in full spring splendor... oh wait I mean destroy our entire ecosystem and lay waste to the entire PNW and kill everything.  😀

Anybody tired of PNW rain and cold should have been on the SE coast this week. It's been in the 70s and 80s in Charleston, Beaufort and Savannah.  So much history here, really beautiful!

grew up in that area, miss it from time to time.  we have a place on Edisto Beach SC, which is between Savannah and Charleston, not too far from Beaufort.  I'll be there in the Fall in October, some years I go more in August and September too if smoke is bad here

MJO composites for early late April/early May suggest mid-month warm-up could have some staying power. Phase-1 during that window:

But come summer months the weak 4CH signal is dominating the low pass. Both images from Dr. Roundy’s site.
