Part II- January 2020 Obs and Discussion

Reminds me of my working years at the golf course.

It was a bit soupy on some fairways in low areas, this course is very close to my house so with as much rain as I have seen the course is holding up quite well. I even shot my best 9 hole score ever today so that was a nice bonus!!

Just an FYI I always like your posts and the fact you are never a **** to anyone. Even when Tim went after you for suggesting there could be flooding.

That was not him.

Pretty interesting how much faster the weekend frontal passage has been trending... its completely through western WA and OR by 4 p.m. on Saturday per the 00Z GFS.

Another swamp screw hole special coming up. Next year at this time I will be in northern ID and so honestly I should not care.

Did you find a place over there?

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Not yet, going to sell our house in April or May, move over and live in an apartment while we look for property and eventually have a house built. Looks to be a huge change for us but an exciting adventure too!  :)

One week from a potential lowland snow event and this forum is so quiet what happened?

FOR me.. It looks to be marginal at best, with highs will be in the upper 30’s to low 40’s. So it will melt faster than it accumates for most, AND most look to get nothing. Not much here to be excited about other than a big ol tease and an overall marginal / non-event for a good majority here. So Meh!  <_>

I have started to notice the swamp smell, especially when I was down in Everett today. the region could use a few dry days.

A little less snow than the 12z.

As someone pointed out on the previous run... that snow shown on the ECMWF is with temps in the mid-30s so those totals might not be very reliable in this situation.

Hey Randy... the really cold air is bypassing WA and apparently heading straight for Cabo.    Maybe you will be in the perfect spot on vacation as well!

Euro continues to be warmer and less snowy than the GFS. 850's bottom out at -8 on the Euro and -10 on the GFS for Seattle.

And the Euro's "snow" falls Sunday morning with 850's around -6 and melts right away that afternoon. The best chance of meaningful snow is going to be Sunday evening/night in convergence which the GFS shows a better pattern for.
