Phil
Strongest +AMO ever recorded for the month of May, and it’s even higher in amplitude now. This is something you’d expect to see *following* a substantial Niño, not before one. And even in that case it would be noteworthy. In tandem with -NPMM, there is no precedent to this structural setup in the satellite era. At all. Last time it happened during a first year niño was 1953. Before that it was 1918. Only 1918/19 and 1911/12 followed 3 year -ENSO. There are a cluster of matching years in reanalysis for the 19th/early 20th century timeframe, but they didn’t follow 3 year -ENSO. 1 Quote Live Weather Cam: https://www.youtube.com/live/KxlIo8-KVpc?si=xKLCFYWbZieAfyh6 PWS Wunderground https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KMDBETHE62 PWS CWOP/NOAA: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=F3819&hours=
