I didn’t start having allergies until I was about 25. Wonder if it’s an age related thing. I certainly did not have them growing up here

Maybe my foray with covid last August did some spooky shit?

New gardening project I just found out is to plant blue java bananas in the PNW. Native to Philippines / SE Asia, we called them "krie" and I had no idea they were actually hardy, cold resistant, and wind resistant. With any luck I could get these to produce fruit.

I'll buy a bunch from you.

I'm a bit of a banana connoisseur myself.

Wasn't forecasted to rain beyond Friday, but it rained most of Saturday. Drove down to Renton, it was pouring down rain.  Traffic is horrible there. 1 hour and eleven minutes from Renton's Southgate exit to downtown Bellevue. Glad I don't do that run often.

I forgot to mention, it's 57F degrees at my house right now.  Feels very nice.  The extended forecast looks promising too!  Boo-yah!  Low 70s and mostly 60s with rain!  I love that!   We really need rain.  It's been so dry recently.

I am over it. It is currently 49F and raining while my heater is running. This will be our 8th straight below normal month. Send it up to the pnw. tried to mtb up to high meadow today and the trail is still snowed in. I have never seen snow on it past the first week of May before.

What a turnaround from years prior. At least it means no early Summer fires down your way.

Strongest +AMO ever recorded for the month of May, and it’s even higher in amplitude now. This is something you’d expect to see *following* a substantial Niño, not before one. And even in that case it would be noteworthy.

In tandem with -NPMM, there is no precedent to this structural setup in the satellite era. At all. Last time it happened during a first year niño was 1953. Before that it was 1918.

Only 1918/19 and 1911/12 followed 3 year -ENSO. There are a cluster of matching years in reanalysis for the 19th/early 20th century timeframe, but they didn’t follow 3 year -ENSO.

Busy day with UW graduation festivities.  Rain ended as we were walking to stadium.  Beautiful evening as the sun came out later.

Funny I am on the porch having coffee and just thought to myself that it feels like October. The ground is wet from yesterday's rain and it is currently 37F

I’m sure it’s pretty disorienting not having every single warm season month be 3-7 degrees above average like we’re used to out west.
