It hit me pretty hard last night. It’s felt like summer for a month already, but the long dog days are still ahead of us. Tim is right, we are going to roast. Time to buy a floatie and head to Lake Tapps.

That's the spirit!

Went for a hike on Bowen Island yesterday. Thanks to Friday and Saturday’s overperforming rainfall, the woods was actually moist! It actually felt like June, not August! And check out this new BC wildfire risk map:

I know we’re still behind on the precip totals, but the recent storm has made for a definite improvement in local conditions. Hopefully more to come.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Am I going to have to worry about a frost again? In mid June? Or will we actually have some cloud cover/rain with this cool down?

I am not even thinking about frost... I assume it will just be cloudy and wet.

Just realized I forgot a caption. This was up Mount Townsend yesterday. Went up the backside via Dirty Face Ridge. It was a glorious day!

Still on board for a top-5 warm June? Over/under on 110°F?

12z CMC looks epic.

GEM was showing a massive ridge for this coming weekend a couple runs ago.   Its been struggling more than usual.

12Z GFS is pretty volatile but likely would be more muted on both sides in reality.

Open windows weather.

We have the entire house opened up right now and it's a scorching 74 outside.   That would be close the windows weather.

I’ll wager the 12z CMC is closer to reality than the 12z GFS. And it probably won’t be close.

Nah... I think most people would have windows open when its in the 70s and not so much when its in the 50s.    I am also aware that some in this tiny subset of the population on here sleep with windows wide open when its in the 20s and its still too warm for a blanket.  😀

I like to sleep cold, we often have our windows in the bedroom open at night when its in the 30s/40s in spring/fall

I think you might be Benjamin Button.  Based on your new pic you seem to be getting younger as the years go by,   😀

We built a walk in freezer so we can sleep in -20 temps... so hard to sleep when you are sweating and it never gets cold enough here.

Aww shucks 🥰. But nah, I’ve got some new wrinkles around my eyes that weren’t there a few years ago. Can’t fight the inevitable.

Dang, streak busted. Dp just touched 70°F.

A shame since the next 7-10 days would have continued the streak without question.

Tons of wildfires in Canada.  They are out of control and I worry that all the smoke amassing up there might make it down to the west coast in due time.  I sure hope not.  Right now all models showing it blow eastward for much of the week.  Smoke is east of the Cascade crest though, but more at higher elevations.  Thankfully not ground level.

Wildfire wise, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California look pretty good right now.  But it's quite literally HECK in Canada. Over 440 known fires with the majority not being dealt with by any crews. When I do my annual fire reports, we saw the last few years, British Columbia does next to no forest management to prevent these fires.

They (BC) definitely have moved towards letting Mother Nature run its course on these fires when they can.  Trying to let them burn naturally within pre determined parameters.  Probably for the best in the long run.
