May 2020 Weather discussion for the PNW

Recommended Posts

If you have never been, it is an amazing place.

Daughter and I were there last August. Make sure you take a day to make the trip over State Hwy 120(Tioga Pass). You won't regret that either

Missed this earlier. I have been before, but it’s been about nine years! This will be the significant other’s first time there, though. Definitely planning to go over Tioga and through Tuolumne Meadows.

The GFS is off its rocker on this one.

Go with a CMC/ECMWF blend. They handle dateline MJO/CCKW transits a million times better than the GooFuS.

I have a post to bump in 6 days.   :)

And the GEM looks just like the GFS now.

I'm not one to get spiritual over natural geography being a native of Oregon, but there is something really emotional about the granite and the shear immensity.

I was in awe, standing at the base of El Capitan and simply putting my hands on the base of 3000 feet of nearly vertical rock.

It is certainly a special place

Well at least we’ll both be miserable instead of just me.

That is really interesting to watch... and the video clarity is amazing.

Had to dust off my desktop computer to make this!  Really did turn out pretty cool.  To bad the funnel cloud didn’t make it into the shot but I did catch a dog chasing a cat down the street lol.  Cat got away and dog was totally confused on how the cat just disappeared!

ECMWF is already caving.

Why do you need above average temperatures?

What’s wrong with average or slightly below average?

It does not matter what anyone wants... just tracking the models.

You just said the GFS was completely wrong and then within the next hour the GEM and ECMWF cave to the GFS.

I still think it’s wrong.

And you didn’t answer my question.

52 here with about .20” so far since midnight, and still coming down.

Will be closing in on 2” for the month to date soon.

1.60” here as of yesterday afternoon here...we only had 0.71” in May of 2018 and 2019...feels weird to actually get decent rainfall in May almost.
