Seriously, after the recent run of winters, I am expecting something of a dud, particularly with El Niño conditions.

We had a foot of powder snow fall in about 4 hours the night before I took that photo.  Cleared the truck with a leaf blower.

Agreed. I think it's going to be a long time before we see a repeat of last year. It's more likely that we will see a continued trend of increased rainfall in early autumn.

It seems as if we have resigned ourselves to a El Nino lack of snow winter. While the odds do not favor us for significant snowfalls, there have been exceptions in the past where we have had major snowfalls in the Seattle area. 1968-69 was a moderate El-Nino yet we had a month long Arctic outbreak with greater than 9 inches on the ground. So hope springs eternal.

Never know! And we could still have some chilly weather and a little snow like what happened in November 2014 which was a Nino correct?

I hate that gradient. What percentage is the far Northern CA shade. It's hard to tell with it going from light to green to dark.

Winter started here during the Super Bowl that year.   And then it was crazy winter.

It was pretty wild. This February and March actually had about 6" more snow than Feb/Mar that winter. In 2019 we had our coldest February on record, this year it was March. Our mean temp in March was 36.4.

Looking back at last cold season, it was one for the ages here. December and January came in about normal, the first 2/3 of December was well below normal, but the last week of the month ruined it. The first half of January was pretty warm, but we had a cold last week of the month. Coldest temp was in late February when we hit 12, which was our coldest temp since December 2013.

November: Mean 36.8 Snow 11"

December: Mean 37.0 Snow 3.4"

January: Mean 37.4 Snow 1.7" 

February: Mean: 35.0 Snow 34.6"

March: Mean: 36.4 Snow 36.4"

Seattle Weather Blog did a special recap on past winters with zero measurable snowfall in mid-January. A few days later, interesting things started appearing in the clown range.
