The anomaly plot is pretty interesting -- for many areas especially north that is essentially normal precipitation. Positive anomalies from Seattle south.

5 min obs show Eug at 66. Hope that can help kick off some convection later. I would be super stoked to just hear a couple of rumbles of thunder with a solid downpour.

I think Covid made me forget all about any January snow fun in 2020.  How do I find the January threads on here? I want to relive the nothing that hit Seattle area that month.

I thought I would do another radar region for the PNW. There are some heavy showers coming for most of the Metro areas.

The showers are getting more intense. More lightning strikes are happening but mostly in Washington for now. Portland looks like it's going to get hit hard with some very heavy showers. Looks like it's going to be a very wet evening. I was just outside and it's breezy too.

Driving back I90 and cool seeing the wisping clouds along rattlesnake ridge and clouds welling up in the valleys of the ridge.

Check out the bentback occlusion from this storm. You can see the cloud front coming onshore now (with all the heavy showers) but the bentback occlusion will bring colder temperatures and more chances of thunderstorms tomorrow.

Poor guy collided with a yellow jacket nest in the ground today while I was home for lunch…They were ANGRY!! Got him up to the deck and there were at least a half dozen still attached to him, burrowing into his fur to get to his skin to sting. I was pulling them out with a towel and they would go back in for more…It was quite crazy! Then after I thought I got them all I brought him in the house and of course two more fly off of him so I had to hunt and kill them inside. He didn’t seem too phased by it but I gave him a Benadryl just in case before going back to work today. I nuked the nest this evening.

I don’t know, the research is mixed on that. Wouldn’t surprise me if it did, though.
